Description
I don't really do much fan art, so when I do it usually means that I'm doing so because whatever it is has inspired me... or fully impacted my life in some way or possibly even helped me to find a bit of enlightenment. This is one such occasion~
If you don't recognize her, This is Rin Tezuka from the Dating sim/ Visual Novel "Katawa Shoujo". [link]
You can download and play the game right there (But I will warn you that it does contain adult content)
Rin is a cute young girl whom lost her arms when she was very young. However she is not deterred by this fact and has since learned to paint using both her mouth and feet....
Here I wanted to do something different than usual, so I outlined Rin and colored her and her painting, as well as coloring all of her paints. But wanted the entire focus to be on Rin sitting there and as such it seems as if she pops out of the pencil art more. She also seems to be currently sitting and thinking, looking back and pondering what to do next.
Anyway, Going through Rin's route was absolutely wonderful. She has such a.... strange and confounding personality that even she doesn't fully understand herself, and as such I thought that was exceedingly attractive in a character. Not only did she show that it's ok to not know what you want for yourself, but that you don't have to be alone in your trouble.
I learned that we should always step forward and try and do things we can't do, just because we can. And that sometimes you do have to destroy yourself to be able to complete your final task.
It is certainly a beautiful story, that brought many laughs and many tears, all the while reminding me of my own mental conundrums and inconsistencies. So I have to say. She reminded me to look at the sky and remember how beautiful it is and to always rest and watch for the beauty of the world to change around me.
In other words, Thank you Miss Rin Tezuka, or moreso the KS development team, for being able to somehow understand and help a person whom you have never met before.

The way you described this VN reminded me of another one... Or, at least, the Anime based on it. It starts off as pretty funny, but at the end of the second season, it is Niagara Falls. Still, I would not go back and unwatch Clannad if I could. It is probably the best Anime I have ever watched, and definitely makes me want to try the VN of it.
I would suggest you watch Clannad as well. It sounds like both Clannad and Katawa Shoujo focus on how crummy life can be, while also trying to show how great it can be.
Wonder if I have made this comment right... Not sure if I got made my point right or not. >.< Ah well. This is a nice piece, and it makes me curious about the VN it came from. I know I said that part right at least.

It's funny, as soon as you said that I KNEW what you were talking about. Clannad is actually my favorite anime series. I agree that I would never EVER want to go back on watching that absolutely beautiful piece of work. It had a lot of rise and fall moments (Don't wanna spoil it for everyone but when they start to "forget about someone" made me cry HARD. And then things got worse later on, especially in the Afterstory.)
You certainly made your point dood! I certainly suggest playing the VN of the game! It can take a bit of time but every story in the game is worth reading and is an absolutely beautiful piece of art.

Yeah, the part about forgetting that character was sad. And I don't think anyone can honestly say they didn't cry during After story.
What I was afraid of, though, was that I was sounding more like an advertisement or something, though, instead of someone commenting on the piece itself. Which I suppose I was. >.< ... And still am. <.< I am watching you, rogue comment...
And back on topic to this piece. With that endorsement, I have to. Might not be today, but I will try it.

And I kept my promise. All I can say is... That was definitely a touching story. Only completed Emi's ending so far, but they definitely wanted to try and make the stories powerful, huh?
I will definitely have to thank you for telling us about this. I partially started it last night, but decided once I started to get a bit farther that I just had to do it in one sitting. There was no way I could possibly do it in more than 1. Thank you, DarkmasterN. Thank you.

Hehe, yes! I know what you mean! My first time playing I couldn't tear myself away!
No problem dood! I believe it is a wonderful thing and everyone should try it out at least once. I'm happy you liked it so much!

I think one of the main reasons I liked this one so much, is that they made sure the story was powerful. It is so rare in games today, at least as far as I have seen, that it makes it seem like even more of a treasure. It fills that hole for a want of a game that has a purpose.
I am also definitely glad that the game didn't end like I thought it would. At least not for Emi's ending. I was so sure it would happen, that it was a major relief.
And to end this... I just couldn't really find the right words to put for this comment... I know what I want to say, but the actual saying of it is a bit hard... With no doubt about it, I will have to work hard on getting to Rin's side now. While I didn't get to see that much of how she is, I was able to understand some of it. Perhaps after going through her side, I will be able to place the words better...

Finishing Rin's route made me cry.
My first playthrough of the game, I got on her route and got the good ending. No faqs no outside help.
I felt... so good. And after the credits rolled around, I missed her. I felt what the MC had been saying the whole time. That she was right there, but so far away as well.
It's going to take at least another week before I stop just staring at the wall every once in a while, and thinking.
I'm not going to be able to play another game for quite a while.

Heh, yeah same here! It's made me sit and think a lot more, doing nothing in particular and simply thinking and mulling over random things, and I've caught myself looking at the sky a lot recently as well.

I didn't know there was a save feature until after my first playthrough, so I had to do it all at once. It was worth it.
I'm slowly getting out of that funk, I had the same melancholy feeling a while back for somthing else as well, and I know it will go away... but a part of me doesn't want it to go.
Yeah. The sky. It sure is perfect isn't it?

OH GOD!! I couldn't do that... I'm a slow reader so I would have been there forever, XD.
Yeah, I agree, sometimes that feeling is just something you wanna hold on to...
Yes it is, always changing, always new, and always something beautiful.
