So this demon can murder whoever it wants for no reason at all? I thought you had to screw up a summoning for them to have free reign like that, and even then it can only hurt the caster.

Well demons may work that way, but she's actually a Shoggoth, they're more like... inter dimensional aliens.
They aren't bound to mortal laws, they can do what they want.

well, lesser creatures like her, are something you can kill, I mean it's extremely difficult since she's like... a puddle of protoplasmic goop so if any little piece of her gets away it can eventually grow back into a full version of her... But the more powerful ones such as Shub-Niggurath are considered gods due to their power level, simply looking at them, and sometimes hearing them can drive you insane... as for THOSE, you can't defeat it, just hope you can maybe close the portal before it gets out...
Lovecraft was always good at making monsters really scary in his books, mainly because they aren't fair. They have the advantage and they usually win, you just have to stay FAR away lol.
