Description
This is from the Halo novel Ghosts of Onyx.A Sentinel traps a Spartan in a river channel where it attempts to make a dialogue with him. This is just my rendition of what is described in the book.
Halo is copyright Microsoft and Bungie.
Ghosts of Onyx was published by Tor Books Nov 2006.

The only thing about this I don't like is the length of the booms. They should probably look like they go farther back.

im going to go halo nerd on you here, that is most likely what the sentinal looked like on onyx. the in game ones are from halo. there are many types of the sentinals.

the forerunners design would have been the same on the halo rings and onyx, for every planet would have been regularly updated in technology before the flood meeting the forerunners and the halo event, because the forerunners would have had technology to send the designs to onyx construction facilities, so they could begin production ASAP.

True, but if you have played halo 2, you see the really big sentinal, and the very little ones that are in the stage "the library". Like i said the forerunners made MANY different types of sentinals. Each with a specific duty. The ones on Onyx had their task. Then the ones on halo were there to take care of the flood.

so what was so important on onyx that made the sentinels be more upgraded than the ones taking care of the flood on the halos?
and also the sentinels on halo couldnt have been made for the flood because when the forerunners set off the halo rings it killed all sentient life in the universe and the flood, thereby destroying the forerunners and (so they thaught) the flood.
so why would they put sentinels on halo to take care of the flood when it was thaught eradicated?

The foerunners knew the flood would servive because the flood is not sentient. And the forerunners where really smart, they could have planed that the flood woud be released from halo. the sentinals would probably look the same, just different models for different tasks... I wish to work at bungie some day, so I gotta learn this stuff... I like the piture by the way, that was exactly how I saw it too

why would the Forerunners make their own species exctinct if they knew that the flood would survive?
the whole reason for activating the halo rings is so they could sacrifice themselves to stop the flood!
if they didnt think it would work they why would they do it?

Because the flood spread to other planets, the rings were just used to keep the flood under control by killing everything else and starve the flood. The forerunners also kept dna samples of every thing so they could repopulate the planets. It was kinda like germX they could only kill 99.9 percent of it. Just watch Halo legends episode Origins part 1. And, then why weren't the rings programed to self destruct and left for master chief and the humans to deal with if it weren't to kill all intellegent life again? It's an uncontrollable cycle that the forerunners knew would happen... The reason why they would do this is beyond my logic and theories of halo

Well Cortana is telling the story and shes going nuts, so I think it's best to not listen to EVERYthing that she says, and watching the special edition helps too, and when you read and watch everything twice like I have, things start piecing together

Onyx was a shield world, an artificial planet with a micro dyson sphere in the middle, like the one in Halo Wars. But Onyx, the "Sharpened Shield", was designed to save Reclaimers, e.g. humans, and probably other species, from the Halos. The Flood were put in storage on Halo so the ones that the pulse didn't kill could be studied, specifically those nasty little infection forms. The Forerunners used Sentinels to fight the Flood before they decided to build Halo, and so of course used them as guards.
