Description
Since people always mistake my infrared photos for snow scenes, I thought it would be interesting to shoot a snow scene in infrared.Hoya R72 infrared filter. Extensive postwork to the RAW file.

This is a very beautiful picture, the sky looks almost out of a horror moive, or perhaps a mystery.

This is fantastic! Truly does speak of cold. Love the trees! So wicked they are without their leaves. Stripped bare and exposed. Beautiful work, Steve.

It really comes out in that shot, Steve. Almost felt as if one could smell the crisp, cold air. Love it when you do that with your shots.

So evocative and beautiful. Reminds me of a moonlit night where the snow lights up and the coyotes go a roaming into the city to see the sights.

What a fantastic title! I like your work in general, and although I don't have much knowledge of how much work was entailed in producing this shot, the title alone is worth the favourite.

Beautiful IR shot of winter... most people assume when it snows it's no good for IR. this shows otherwise. Great piece!

Thanks alot! I was very happy with how this little experiment worked out. Despite my hate of winter weather, I'll be trying some more of these.

I havent felt warm in a long while. This portrays the cold very well, makes me shiver underneath my layers and layers of blankets and sweaters. hehe. I love the tones, and you always do a great job with the infrareds. Beautiful!

Great idea. Turned out perfect. I guess now I can't use the weather as an excuse to not be out shooting IR. Gee, thanks

Glad to help!
Of course, once we've been hit by this storm that's beginning right now, you may have a pretty good excuse again...

Yes.
I'm sitting here waiting to call into work. I got a flat tire this weekend and I'm running on a little spare. There is no way I'm driving in this on a spare.

Ha... I'm actually about to leave for work... and I was scheduled off today. But there were so many calloffs that I can come in and work an extra day on overtime. Might cost me my life, but hey... it's extra income!

This is quite a beautiful shot. Did you just happen to be out and take it?

Thanks alot. I actually went out specifically to get this shot. I was there the day before but the light was at the wrong angle and the IR effect was too dramatic. So I went back when the sun was in the right place, set everything up, and took a few shots. Took less than 10 minutes.
