Description
"THE RED SNIPPETS"Red Snippets are sea scorpions that live in very shallow fresh water.
They can also breathe air.
These 12-foot-long arachnids are clever hunters, filling in the niche that Old World crocodiles did in ages past.
They are bright red and have a pair of huge eyes that allow them to hunt in moonlit dark wetlands, where they feed on a multitude of prey, such as Marsh Rats, and the quick and agile Pygmy Brook Manatees.
They are often found in groups of 4 and make a shrilling sound during communications that sound much like the calls of Cicada bugs of the Old World.
They are curious creatures that show a level of some intelligence and often gather by supply trails, looking for food scraps.
Although even tempered, they can deliver debilitating injuries with their huge pincers.
But thus far, seem to be quite timid and even show some tolerance to handling.
Among the colonies in Logan Square, some people eat them, cooking them as you would a giant Old-World lobster.
And like lobsters, they are considered a delicious meal.
However, Red Snippets of the southern shallows are growing hip to this and show less tolerance for humans, some even attacking water collectors in that region.
This shows that these innovative scorpions have the capacity for rapid learning.
This is definitely an advantageous trait for survival among the often-harsh bio fauna of Gothalebra's wetlands.
