It was about 3 hours later that I'd gotten out of class and hid in a classroom that would be vacant until about 2 and it was currently 1. "Hey Chett, are you okay in there? You still have about 4 1/2 hours left but my next class doesn't start until 3...What do you want to do?"

Chett stirred, then stretched. "Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine...and...I'll do whatever you want to do...also...um...I...c-can I actually...live in here...? It's nice, warm, dark...I like it..."

I choked when he asked the question "Chett...Y-you can't be serious...no you can't live in my stomach! There are a lot of things wrong with that as a whole! There are plenty of places that are humid, dark, and nice...but my stomach is not one!!" That was way too dangerous and not to mention, I kind of needed that organ...to live...

Chett frowned a bit. "...what about your mouth, then? I feel safe with you...I...I want to stay in or on you at all times...you're the only person who's been willing to help me..."

That was an even worse choice! "No-look Chett I don't mind helping you and will admit you taste like a piece of candy but you can't live inside me. Now if you want then you can live with me and use my stomach as a safe place occasionally but that would be way too dangerous for the both of us to allow you to literally live inside me...does that sound good?" Honestly I could use some company, I did get lonely inΒ the apartment.

Chett sighed. "...but it's not like I'd get hurt in here...I can't be digested...please, I...I want to stay INSIDE...it's too cold out there for me..."

Wa-no we can find an alternative to keeping you warm but I'm not going to go about my normal life as if there isn't a tiny guy in my stomach...I'm sorry but if that's what you want...you might need to find another person...my apologies..." There was no way I could do it...especially with some things...no.

"It'll depress me and I'll starve to death"Β Did he raelly think I'd eat with him in there? "This morning don't you remember I told you I wasn't comfortable with you in my mouth much less stomach?"

Chett frowned. "You wouldn't starve to death...I mean, you can still eat, I'd just get out of the way first...and...I don't remember you saying that you didn't feel comfortable with me in your mouth, but I DO remember you like my taste."

"I'm not eating with you in there!!" I shout and get a few glances inside the room but otherwise people just kept on walking. "...Okay so maybe I didn't say it but still now you know and sure I enjoyed your taste but...if your in my stomach then how am I supposed to enjoy it?" That wasn't really a concern but the point was really to just discourage him from the idea in general. "You know what, I'm skipping class and settling this now or as soon as I get home" Huffing I walk out of the classroom and head back to the apartment, not believing I was really having this conversation.

Chett whimpered a bit, curling up and clamping his hands over his ears. "I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." He whimpered. "P-please don't get rid of me...I...I have no one else to help...please..." He said, sounding near tears

I stopped in my tracks or rather... the middle of the street and had to dodge a car. "Darn it" Once I'm back on the safety of the sidewalk I look down at my midsection and hesitantly place a hand over it, rubbing the area I thought he was "I never planned on getting rid of you...I'm not a monster" With that I continued on, rubbing and slowing my pace to a light walk, in an attempt to comfort and reassure Chett.

He whimpered a bit. "R-r-really...? The way you said it...i-it sounded like you were gonna...make me go away...move on t-to try to find someone else to help me..."

Oh don't do that, don't sound so sad! "No, I simply want to hit a compromise somewhere in this thing. I already told you that you could stay" Even if in reality there were PLENTY of others that would gladly eat him and never let him out.

I never replied instead I headed intoΒ my placeΒ and into the bathroom. "Are you ready?" I asked turning on the water in the sink and adjusting the temperature.

"I'm not going to keep talking to you like this, are you ready to come out? At least for a little while, you need to eat anyway." Not to mention me as well but that could wait.

A minute later he was in my hand which I placed in the hot water in the sink, I don't think... I can do that again "I-is this water good enough? You said out here you were cold?" Never again...

I take my hands from under him and lean against the wall "So would you mind explaining this to me? How you've been surviving for a year like this, how you got like this and how you got into the apartment complexΒ or more specifically my room?" He could answer any of them first as he needed because what I needed right now where the basic answers before we got any deeper.

Chett thought a moment. "I've survived by keeping out of the way during the day and moving at night, I got like this because of a drug gone wrong, and I climbed up some of the plantlife growing at the sides of the building and used little cracks and holes in the brick...and your window was the first I came across that had a slightly open window." He answered easily. "Why?"

"Because it's not everyday you meet a small guy who just happened to climb into your mouth wanting to be swallowed, unaware of the type of person you are. Luckily I'm not the meanest guy out here. We know for a fact that you want to live with me and stay near me but...you need a home...inside my home." I speak while glancing at him in the sink filled with water.

"So..." I waved my hand for him to carry on "What exactly do you need in a home?"

"...just...warmth...a soft place to sleep...and a place easily darkened...I can't sleep with light..."

Does he realize he just described a bed in a dark room? "Well, there are plenty of places like that but you know what a home really is? It's a place you can go to at the end of the day and relax and feel safe."

"Well...I'm not sure how safe or comfortable you feel with me but...you're welcome to stay as long as you want...and I could clean out a drawer and set something up for you there...I mean unless you want to sleep in my bed with me...but sometimes I'm up late and the drawer would lock out the light..."

I smile at him once more, which seems to be happening a lot todayΒ "Well, it matters where do you want to sleep other than my stomach? Or rather when that's not an option" Now that I thought about it he was going to need some stuff, so I guess I needed to go to the store.

Chett thought a moment. "...well...I've slept in a number of places...a soup can in an alleyway, under a mushroom, in a hole in the ground or in a tree...a crack in a wall...I've slept anywhere and everywhere I can, so I don't really have a preference...anything would be an improvement..."

Well those places didn't sound all too great except the mushroom, that one kind of interested me "Well then I guess that's the first task finding you the best place to sleep. You could try my mattress, a pillow, a blanket, a sponge, my chest, a towel, handkerchief..." I just kept going on until he had something that caught his attention and stopped me. We had to start somewhere and I wasn't choosing for him.

"Umm...that's...that's not a very dark place...but I was just naming things I didn't think you'd actually choose...sure why not" I could think of worse places then my chest.
