I say nothing for a bit.

"Uh, hold on." I scrounge the apartment room for metal. I come back with some scrap steel, a lump of iron, and a piece of nickel. I set them next to you. "This what you had in mind?"

I looked them over again, a mental blueprint forming in my head for what I could make from the metal

I looked around, seeing a lighter on the floor in a small corner. I made a mental note of it so I could get it later, then looked back at the metal I had to work with

I got a piece of paper and a small piece of pencil led, starting to sketch out an idea for the pieces of metal

I finish eating. I open the fridge for a drink.

I pull a bottle of cream soda out of the fridge and shut it. "They never make good beer these days."

I take a third swig, then: "Where'd I put my lighter?" I poke in my bedroom.

I stiffened a bit, hoping you wouldnt find it

I don't notice. "Dammit. It's not here." I look in the kitchen.

I kept sketching, praying in my mind you wouldnt find your lighter

I drink more soda, then I see it. "OH! There it is." I pick it up. It's a Zippo. "You sneaky little thing." I grin. For whatever reason, I set it on the table, next to you. "Best I leave that thing where somebody can use it." I go back in the kitchen.

I was a bit relieved, then looked at my sketch, seeing a few errors in it

I sighed. "You got a piece of eraser I can use?"

"Sure." I open a pocket knife and carve an eraser bit off of a pencil. "Here." I hand it to you.

I grabbed it. "Thanks." I said, erasing the mistakes I'd made on the paper

I look at you curiously. "What are you trying to make?"

"Right now, I'm just planning...Hmm, if I..." I started sketching again, ears flicking

I shrug and move away. "Now, what did I do with that . . ." I go off into the kitchen again and sort through some stuff.

I looked at my blueprint, then sighed a bit, muttering "Well, it WILL be a prototype..."

I throw a spring into the room. It clatters on the ground. Some cursing is heard from my direction.

I sighed a bit, then grabbed the lighter, moving it over to the metal. I clicked it on, and heated up the metal a bit so it was soft. I turned off the lighter, and started working with the hot metal, my hands not getting burned or even uncomfortably hot

I jumped, and while I was distracted the metal hardened around my hands. "Dang it!" I hissed
