In the dark void of space, millions of lightyears away in what is referred to as Shi'ar Space. a cosmic entity had sense a powerful presence on Earth, a planet that this entity had visited many times before. with a flap of its fiery wings, it soared through the cosmos and headed for its elusive prize. It was also followed by an unknown wanderer who feared that danger would be imminent for the unsuspecting planet.

In another life, this entity would have found its perfect host immediately, but it became confused, as the power it sensed was spread out, but it picked up a powerful presence on Muir Island. When the entity arrived, it pounced immediately to the one that had the highest amount of power. This event caused a lot of telepaths on both Earth and all over the cosmos to react, some even into a coma, notably Jean Grey. It did not get to its intended host but it took a liking to the mutant known as Vulcan.

Gabriel had struggled with his powers for awhile, especially after the incident with Proteus. Then he was given a bigger headache when the entity occupied his body. this however triggered a massive spike in his power levels and an increased mental capacity, a trait he had never possessed before. Moira contacted Charles and the Xmen in Westchester to come quickly to help contain Vulcan. Darwin, Sway and Petra tried to resist him but Vulcan was too much for them to contain. The Xmen managed to arrive and help out the other mutants. Some did their best to help Gabriel control his new powers. The entity sensed that both Charles and Moira were hiding something from Gabriel, and even fellow Xmen members Cyclops and Havok. What could be so important that these three mutants were kept in the dark about?

(for those who are keeping up with the storyline I put within my designs, the Phoenix Force would have sensed several Omega-Level mutants converging on Muir Island around the time Proteus escaped.)

You're wondering why Vulcan and not Jean? this is part of a story i'm putting together, more like a take on the iconic Dark Phoenix storyline, but with a twist. I also took inspiration from Deadly Genesis, What If? Xmen-The Rise and Fall of the Shi-ar Empire to help create this twisted version. his design is a combination of the iconic Dark Phoenix colors and his main look.
