Yes you are right. Even if black looks cool, its difficult to see details. Did you try putting the ink in a grey color over black?

I also loved "Are You Afraid of the Dark?". there are a few episodes that I can still remember really well, to this day.
I think creepy can work really well for Stringdoll. Though, to add some more opinions, I say you should also try and balance her silliness in there too. It might even make her more unsettling if nobody will know what emotion she will react with next.

Well, she isnt that silly as everybody thinks... When in danger or working she concentrates even looking profesional. She uses silliness just to drive others mad. If there is nobody else... she can keep serious.
Example : The comic im doing with PW in it : She has funny Reaction for joke-moments driving pw mad.
The other im doing she is alone and the story must keep misterious... so she is more profesional looking... Jhonny deep style in Slippy Hollow (with his funny but not silly moments.) You already know, she is no QJ.
