I also go through anguish, rage, self-hatred and misery on many occasions. And when that happens, I do not desire to. I just want to be happy, even if alone. I would like to have a happy day...and all ends being crap anyways. So this drawing speaks to me.Β

This is a villain I feel sorry for--the poor guy just needs someone to understand him and befriend him. Yet I do not support some of his ideas. Attempting to transform the woman you're infatuated with into a plant is not a good idea. Ruining Christmas for everyone else will not make yours any better, and trying to make friends and wives literally from plants is probably not the smartest thing in the world.
Anyhow, I'd love to give him a hug.

Whoa, this is some really cool stylization! The lineless, flat coloring in this is so eye-catching and you went with some really nice hues for him!
I always kind of empathized with Bushroot. The fact that he is the root of a lot of his own problems - that things like jealousy, irrational choices, and very emotional reactions being his own downfall - somehow made him much more sympathetic than if all of it is because it's the world itself being unfair. But man, I kind of hope that down the line we do start to see some redemption for Bushroot and he starts to improve himself.
Also, nice improvement! I've seen your art from time to time over the years and you've really stepped up your game as far as your Bushroots!

Thank you! It's surprising what a good 6 years or so can do for one's art. And... I honestly don't know why I went for the lineless style. Β Especially considering that is more time consuming. But i just... needed the venting, so it was worth it in the end.
I also agree with your sentiments on Bushroot. His victim complex prevents him from taking up for his own responsibilities. It's sad that a smart man had to be bullied to the point where he felt the need to lash out, but now he also uses his powers to take it out on innocents as well. (Ruining Christmas for all, for example.) Bushroot isn't evil, just somebody who was hurt and continues to lash out at others.
I can completely understand where he's coming from, even if I don't agree with his ways.

Man, that reminds me, it's been a good three or so years since I've last drawn Bushroot. I should probably do the same.
I feel that there's a quote from Mad Hatter from Batman: TAS that sums up Bushroot perfectly: "It didn't have to be this way! You MADE me do it!"
His victim complex and his current inability to recognize that what he was doing was wrong is kind of why I want to see them eventually revisit St. Canard University somewhere, just so that we get some closure on that end and Bushroot stops ignoring/blocking out the fact that he killed two people, tried to murder a third person, and basically kidnapped a woman and tried to also make her a plant. Come on, Bushroot, you gotta be the better man and apologize for that shit if you're going to move on. (although judging by how well Quackerjack reacted to Whiffle Boy still being around, maaaaybe it's probably better not to pick that old scab)

The best thing about nature is it's ability to thrive when the odds are against it. Flowers that struggle to grow through concrete, trees that grow on hills, cacti adaption to survive in harsh climates... Nature finds a way to go on, and I feel Bushroot is of a hardy stock. He'll be fine in the end, I'm sure of it.

Thank you! I needed to vent, and Bushroot just felt like the perfect candidate. He's know what it's like to feel bushed and beaten by the world. Also just nice to draw Bushroot in general, it's been a while-- which is a shame since he's my favorite DWD character.

I haven't seen issue two yet... But in general, I hope they do more Bushroot/Liquidator team ups like they did the Quackerjack/Megavolt team ups in the show. It still surprises me that they didn't interact much outside of the Fearsome Five. But yes, either way, more Bushroot please.

I think it could be because they just see each other as a member of the team, and not friends. Not sure... just my opinion. They rarely talked inside the team either. The only friendly interaction they had was high-fiving each other when Bushroot took out the police station in one episode, but that was just it. With Megavolt and Quackerjack, anywhere, you could clearly see they get along very well.
If they could get Bushroot to reform, that would be awesome.

I mean, admittedly he's not innocent of his crimes. But he was pushed around, and still has a lot of genuine sad moments. He was a man of great potential, and it's a shame it had to be wasted because of the circumstances.
I hope he someday finds happiness and respect, and moves on past his victim complex so he can go on a path of a better life...Β
