Well,they have reasons for that.
1.Mauser C96's recoil are so powerful,it's quite difficult to handle with one hand.So they add the shoulder stock to increase comfort and stability.
2.On the other hand,without the stock,the HK VP70 is only a normal 9mm semi-auto handgun.With it attached,the stock gives 3RB(3-round burst) capability to the handgun itself.And this handgun is not a SMG,but rather in a special class entitled assault handgun.Fires like a assault rifle,but with the firepower of a handgun.
