Description
I was asked by a client if I would be interested in drawing a caricature for a retiring employee. When they sent photo references, they also sent some images of these little Russ Barrie (?) sculptures of sad characters with little homespun sayings. I really became intrigued by the idea of producing a sculptural version of one of my caricatures. So that led me to this.Howard took about a week, and is mostly sculpey over a wire and sculptural aluminum mesh frame. I think they were pleased with the results. He's about 8" tall, and I painted him with acrylics. The glasses are made from bent 20 gauge steel wire.

Very well done. You can build up a picture of just what his leaving day is going to be like can't you. The cleaners will be busy.

Thanks...well, the person I did it for hasn't seen it yet, so I don't know how it went over yet.
