Description
I needed a vehicle for the antagonist of my comic, and started with a really loose idea of where I wanted to go. I created the cab out of a few abandoned pieces from the scrap bin and got to work. Once I had the basic shell and the chassis, I decided to scratch build the legs from square and round rods. I learned a lot going through the process of manufacturing and building the legs. The rest flowed from there. This is pretty much what I was looking for. A walker transport with some fairly intimidating firepower.Shell: 1/24th scale Abandoned bits
Scratchbullt from the parts bin

Whoah that's... awesome! Doesn't look like scratch built at all, rather like a vehicle from some action figure set.

The recoilless gun is pretty nice, although I'd be a bit worried about a sniper attack (or a lucky grenade) killing the crew. Then again, it's intended to intimidate folks who aren't an organized fighting force, and that's what it succeeds at.

Very perceptive. This thing is really about intimidating and overwhelming unorganized citizenry. The pilot is a narcissist who removed the protective canopy covering the cabin so his subjects can see him up their. This particular model of walker is actually a heavily modified version of a standard patrol drone robot. The control computer has been removed, and the cockpit added with all of the controls converted to a simple computer system and manual controls. It's almost completely impractical except for it's intended purpose. Blatant intimidation. The recoilless is just one of several alternate weapons platforms that can be mounted. It also has a pair of recessed missile bays on it's underbelly (TOW missiles) for big targets and a machine gun at the base of the neck for crowd suppression. The recoiless is a very deliberate choice in the story. It can be rotated but only manually, and it has to be reloaded and fired by hand. So the passenger is also an exposed gunner with a third crewman in the back collecting shells and passing up live ordinance. I imagine it would really only be used for artillery bombardment before an assault. It also travels with a flying drone that covers air support at all times. That's cool you were able to pick up it's role from just the design.

Thanks.
It would be a fun (and if the pilot has enough skills to back up his narcissim, quite the challenge) opponent for the players in a homebrew Heavy Gear RPG-based game I want to run with my local gaming group once the new rules come out. The TOW missiles and direct-fire attacks with the recoilless rifle would likely obliterate their Delamare police mechs or the command car... (or worse yet, the mostly-unarmored genset/carrier trucks and the patrol car.)
That would be fun (if very lethal)...Seven Samurai (or Magnificent Seven) with mini mecha.

Seven Samurai with mini mechs. Lots of potential in that.

Yep. I guess I'll break out the Kurosawa sometime this summer and do some basic planning.
