Happy First of April everyone! Or happy April Fool's Day, take your pick.
A couple of explanations for the references (spoilers).
-Katara being confused: this is from the episode "Ember Island Players" in which Katara tells Aang they can't be together because she's "confused".
-Pedo-love: a joke that originated from my older sister, who thinks that any pairing with Aang is close to being pedo.
-Toph being over Sokka: during season two and the first half of season three Toph seems to have a crush on Sokka. She seems to move on (to Zuko) during the second half of season three.
And sorry about the lousy quality of the image. The separate pictures were fine but something went wrong when I was putting them all together. This will be last time I make a comic out of separate images; it's too much work. I also added the text after scanning, because my handwriting was awful.

Just because Toph wanted to go on a "field trip" with Zuko doesn't mean she likes him. Those "field trips" were pretty cool. Plus at the very end, Toph tends to cling to Sokka a lot.

I was actually really confused for a moment as to what you were talking about, since that deviation description was so old. I actually had to check what I'd gone and written.
Yes, just because Toph thinks Zuko is awesome and cool doesn't mean she's suddenly crushing on him. It might very well be that Toph simply sees Zuko as a good friend, perhaps she even sees some of her good friend Iroh in him.
You are also right that among the group Sokka and Toph are close. I've always seen that Toph and Sokka share a somewhat special bond among the group, mostly due to the nature of their banter with each other. They understand each other.
I actually find Toph a bit hard to read, when it comes to the main heroes. While it's easy to see that she cares, she really keeps the nature of her caring to herself. She just clams up whenever she feels she might be getting too mushy for her own tastes. It's a yet another reason I like her character so much; every time I watch her episodes I notice something new or become aware of a different angle to things. But, the point I was getting at is that I don't really think Toph sees Zuko as antyhing more than a friend anymore.

Toko is AWESOME! And don't think I didn't REALLY appreciate the Toko interaction in Western Air Temple! I, too, like their relationship any way it appears, whether as friends or more. (I'm debating whether or not to read a fanfic I've heard of called Stormbenders that is Zutarian but allegedly has a lot of Toko sibling-esque love. 
I feel pedo-love is a major fan-barrier to Toko.

Haha, I just couldn't write a Zuko fic without Toph. I still mostly can't. If it's Avatar, it needs Toph, because Toph is the single most awesome character I've seen in a cartoon in a while. Not 'female character', but just plain character in general. Toph is awesome, period, by any standard.
Yeah, the 'pedo factor' thing really depends on how you guess the rules/laws about such things go in that world. There's no canon on it, and it would be just WEIRD if the creators were forced to answer that just for the sake of shipping. As long as the story is written in a mature manner, I don't consider the ages a really big deal.

Heh, yeah. Gotta watch out for those. Though it has gotten a lot better 'cause the show's been off the air for so long. I guess all the crazies either went to the next thing or finally realized that Avatar isn't the most important thing in the world (though it sometimes feels like it~)
Though I'm sure with Korra coming out we might see a resurgence of shipping wars.

Actually, the one thing about this I'm proud of is the pacing. The art style and page format are both a bit meh, but at least the joke's good.
