I was thumbing through my copy of the phrase book looking for insults when I came upon Sergio Aragones' cartoon of Chewie and an unnamed Wookiee exchanging beauty tips, and felt that something needed to be done about it. After all, all animals (humans included!) spend a great deal of time grooming - or so my population ecology lecturer used to remind us...

[Incidentally, this very nearly wound up getting scrapped. While trying to come up with a plausible tagline for the finished cartoon, I poked around Google, hoping for inspiration from other beauty salon slogans - and, to my chagrin, discovered that somebody else had tackled a similar theme involving the same character not too long ago. After angsting about it, I turned to a friend - who told me it wasn't as if I'd been looking to rip the person off, and it wasn't as if there was a finite supply of artwork that would ever be created, so there shouldn't even be a crisis. So yeah. If you're the creator of that other cartoon, I'm very sorry about the thematic convergence, but it was never intended in the first place.]
