Description
100 Pictures Challenge #7: Heaven. Interpret as you will.I actually started this in black & white as a possible "base" for collaborating with a friend. But for some reason, when I started painting in the bright spot, the phrase, "where none may follow" started running around in circles in my head, and I knew I had to do a finished version on my own. And then last night I remember just *where* the phrase came from: Arthur Clarke's The City and the Stars: "Within a very short period of time our ancestors and their fellow-races had gone upon a journey which we cannot follow." Whoops. Guess my memory's not what it used to be
Anyway, the book ends with a really good passage that (although it has nothing to do with this picture!) I'd like to share, because Clarke's made of awesomeness:
In this universe the night was falling; the shadows were lengthening towards an east that would not know another dawn. But elsewhere the stars were still young and the light of morning lingered; and along the path he once had followed, Man would one day go again
Now I need to go do another base for real.

I think I love this eternally, would it be made into a print if I begged and pleaded? And provided...favors...
J/k, this is seriously amazing though, I really love your horizon work and it just looks damn REAL. Or maybe I just want it to be? So awesome Far,

ROFL! If you really want a print of this, I'll send you a bigger sized JPG for you to print out in the comfort of your own home. Thanks very much, Steph.

Wow, love the atmosphere and the colours in this one. Interesting perspective too, it's original and your eye really gets drawn into the picture!

Clark may be awesomeness, but I still worship Asimov as god

Oh yes. I have what my best mate laughingly describes as an "Asimov Shrine" right smack dab in the middle of my bookcase.

I ran out of bookcase space and now the linen closet is full of books: it has the misfortune of being in possession of built-in shelving .

Linen closet!! But yeah, I can totally relate. I have six bookshelves in three different rooms, and even those are starting to overflow, to the point where I have toppling stacks on my (thankfully wide) headboard.
