lol , acutally its Sub-Surface Scattering , this is a function of a material where light passes through by scattering inside . Like human skin , if u place a torch light in ur hand and see that from the other side , you will see the lights scattering inside and coming through hope you get it , its like kind of translucency but with lot of controls . This feature is available in any good renderers like Mental Ray , Vray , Renderman etc

Ahhhhhhhh yes. That's the feature I've been looking for in Vray since standard translucency doesn't work in it, I just didn't know what it was called. I'll have to look up some tutorials now. Perfect! Thank you!

That is some freaking impressive work so far. I'm wondering if you've considered turning your talents to making sci-fi sets/scenes. I've been looking for someone to make a generic sci-fi wall segment that's simple and elegant, and without any right angles.
Is that something you think you'd have the interest/time for?

Thank you. Yeah these kinds of things are pretty quick to put together. I actually have been building scenes for my Alice in Wonderland series that's what alot of these tests and things are for. Is there a particular design you had in mind? And would you need it in prop form or as a background scene?

In prop form, several props (eventually). Not necessarily organic, but in a smooth an elegant, clean sci-fi style. Just a modular wall, column and possibly simple furniture (podium, table, chair). A wall segment might have a panel in it that could be removed to reveal a window, gadgets, or perhaps a door.
No right angles, exposed piping circuits or wires, just like most people don't have exposed wires in their homes. a lot of long elipses and shallow curves. Something that doesn't look like it was made of greebles. Basically, if you were in a swanky hotel in parlour room in the future, what would it look like?
Basically, I'd like a place six and twi'leks can play in, but a place that doesn't look like Jabba's Palace or some abandoned cargo ship. Something classy, like Corusant.

sure I could do some things like that. Actually I have some buried somewhere on my harddrive that I've used and I'm always building new stuff. I just made a new wall for my new Talon image, check that out and let me know what you think.

Yuk, lol! That looks disgustingly brilliant! In fact, once again, this reminds me of something from several computer games. It either looks like something mysterious from one of the old X-Com/UFO games (whether you are on their homeworld near the end of the game or inside one of their crashed vessels), something out of Starcraft (it does look like something related to the Zerg) or System Shock 2 (some organism related to the Many).
It looks suitably shiny, giving it that certified look of "what the hell is that thing?" All you know is that it is alive, in some way or another.

Yeah, I'm trying to think of a different kind of mushroom than the ones I've been using so far. Perhaps so

Bleagh, very nicely textured. This is what I imagine being swallowed by a monster would look like on the way down xD
