Sorry, but that's totally wrong. There were no linear evolution in german tanks. Panzer 4 wasn't the successor of Panzer 3, it was a parallel development. P3 was a medium battle tank. P4 a heavy support tank. Panzer 2 was a cheap substitute, because 3 and 4 weren't battle ready and neither the base for 3 nor 4. P5 was planned as a medium replacement for Panzer 3. P6 was an heavy assault tank and should replace 4.Β

But as Panzer 5 wasn't ready as the heavy armored russian tanks showed up, they wanted to upgrade P3 with the long 75mm. This wasn't possible, because of the too narrow turret bearing, so P4 switched it's role to medium battle tank instead.

The Leopard 1 has nothing to do with german WW2 tanks, that evolution ended with the Maus and E-Class. It was based on Nato tanks, like the AMX 30 and even had a british gun. Then came the KPZ 70, that was a failed joint venture between germans and americans, and this was the base for the leopard 2 and the abrams.

Cool chart, such Beautiful German Panzers. May I ask how did you do this?

just use the technical drawing as reverence and draw it in paint.

They should have dropped the idea of the TigersΒ  and pushed onto the Panther.Β  The Battle of Kursk was a tough lesson to learn in how to make a better tank like the T-34.Β  Sloping armor beats thick flat armor any day.Β  Wouldn't mind have a PZK III to toodle around in.Β  Drove M113s when in the Guard.

German armor, one of the best in the world since 1918

Not really.Β  The best in the world since 1918 was the British then the French.Β  But they lagged behind the Germans in the 1930's.

Everybody at the time looked upon armor as just infantry support.Β  The Japanese experimented with a combine forces tactics in China before Tojo shot that down.Β  And this was before Guiderian (sic).

I donΒ΄t think, the leopard is an evolution of the Panther only. The leopard based on plans for a tank called Panzerkampfwagen E-50 and the E-50 based on the Tiger II and Panther II.

Ah, What a lovely battletank.

Beautiful work. Are you including only designs that entered production? (I don't see the Panther Ausf. F, the Panther II, or the E-series.)

I would also like to see the prototypes in between, like the VK3601H as prototype for the tiger and so on.

I was thinking about doing something very much like this. Although I would use my digital painting skills to portray them from a 1/4 front view at eye-level, not as the side-aspect diagrams you have here.

Also considering doing half-tracks, werfers, anti-aircraft, assault guns/tank destroyers, and mobile artillery.

Probably won't do it for a long time, though.

Is that helmet/goggles real or just for play?

Cool. C-130?

I ship out to be an Abrams crewman on Jan 14... but my heart may always beat for Leo II.

No, I borrowed the helmet from the helicopter crew.

Oh? good luck! 10 years ago I visited a American base in Germany and sat in the gunner seat of a M1. it is a very little space within a tank.

Yeah. The tight space will probably be fun, as well. Like I'm really in the belly of the beast.

Very nice and accurate with every tank actually built. Would be nice to see the prototype (Großtraktor, Kleintraktor, Neubaufahrzeug), the never-built tank (E-series, Maus, etc) and the projects in the 60s (Keiler), 70s (MBT-70) and 80s (KpZ-80/Leopard III).
Still, excellent work

There are actually a lot of tanks that are missing. Panzer I ausf. B, ausf. C, ausf. F, just to name a few. Great work on the chart though.
