Ezra Bridger and Garazeb Orrelios, are sent on a supply run after constantly arguing with one another aboard the Ghost. During their mission, they steal an Imperial TIE fighter and are ordered by Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus to return to the Ghost. Along the way, they discover that a family of farmers, including Bridger's old friend Morad Sumar, have been arrested by the Empire. The two rebels rescue the farmers before "purposefully destroying" the TIE fighter and returning to the Ghost, having become better friends for the experience.

I thought that this is what they did to the TIE. The evidence is there in their expressions after telling Kanan what they "had" done.

You know that is exactly what I think they actually did with the TIE Fighter, noticing a piece of Concept Art and the way they said what they did with it didn't sound very truthful.
