I love Yeston & Kopit's Phantom!!! It's sooo adorable and lovely and deep all at the same time. There's a wonderful TV mini series with Charles Dance and Teri Polo in it, which I'm sure you've all heard of, but there's also a beautiful musical with gorgeous songs that are currently stuck in my head and a joy to sing. If you haven't already, you must check this version of the timeless story out!
This is the scene where Erik takes Christine on a little Picnic in his very own fake forest beneath the Opera House.

It's beautifully coloured, and for some reason my endorphins are soaring. This picture makes me all happy! It's a lot brighter than the scene in the miniseries. Even the deer in the background look slightly friendly!

You know, I suspect they used nighttime filters for that scene, and I really do believe that in Erik's mind this is what their time together was like. Christine was there-- that's all that mattered!

The forest scene was cute because of Erik's dialogue, but overall it set you on edge. This is a more friendly forest. Now the only thing left to take care of is not to upset Erik... I couldn't bear listening to the THUMP when he knocked the last one over.

the last deer? yes, that part made me crack up out of nervousness. poor thing! Actually-- i take that back. the first time I saw this scene it really freaked me out and i nearly bawled at the end.

That rubbery whack... I was whimpering! I'd watch it again for the cuteness and mild fluff, but it's too hard. Plus the bandwith is running out.
One relatively good thing: At least there wasn't cruelty to mirrors too.

Aww! Thats so cute. I love this version. I recently saw the musical and it was amazing. The picnic is my favorite scene. I love the colors of the drawing.

I want to see this version. They're doing it at a community theatre near me and I really want to go and see it. I own the soundtrack and the music is wonderful, even better than some of the ones from the ALW musical. Your drawing is so beautiful, and I love the coloring. Very nice!

It's amazing. I really think the musical and the TV series go hand in hand... once I got the music, the TV series made much MUCH more sense to me... and visa versa.

how cool! The stage play/movie of ALW is my top favorite version, next is Leroux, and after that is this version. Each one holds special meaning to me, and reveals a different aspect of why I love Erik so much.

Yeah, ALW and the novel are pretty much a tie for me. I know a lot of people like the silent one, and I've actually watched it twice, but it's not all the way on my top versions. I dunno.
