Description
Level: Intermediate, it is advised you have prior handling in Draconi before adopting this type into your home.
Reason: Ignies are friendly towards strangers when in a different environment outside of their perceived territory. However, should a stranger intrude upon their home, Ignies are known to become extremely aggressive. They have been documented from feigning strikes to full on physical attacks to drive the intruder away. Their protectiveness is not limited to their territory and carries onto the Igni’s companions and family, often making a great effort to keep others away from their clan. In addition to their protective nature, Ignies’ fire breath is dangerous to be hurt by due to the high temperature their flames can reach.
Should you decide to take this bitty into your home, it’s advised you work with the Igni on their protective nature to prevent them from harming others who may visit your establishment.
-HOW CAN I ADOPT AN INTERMEDIATE DRACONI BITTY?-
Draconi of any level can be adopted as you please! The levels established in each form are merely for lore purpose. There are no requirements to adopt Draconi, you don’t have to ask me if you can adopt one either. It’ll always be yes! Once you adopt a Draconi they’re yours to deal with however you please! The only thing I ask is you don’t adopt a Draconi exclusively to harm them. Below you will find information on the traits and interesting facts about the Draconi featured.
-IGNI TYPE-
Igni, or Ignies as plural. Their name comes from 'Ignite' due to their ability to create sparks from the blades on their wings upon striking the blades against each other. Ignies are known as the desert dwelling Draconi. Their Draconi Stone is a ruby.
Traits:
Ignies are known to be energetic, optimistic, prideful, hard workers and independent. They’re truthful to a fault, often relying on their own self-judgement rather than the opinion of others. It’s common to find this type of Draconi taking a leadership role in any group they’re joined with, often knowing the best ways to delegate tasks onto their peers to ensure a task is completed. While outside of their territory, Ignies are known for their insistence to avoid fighting and any possible trouble if they can. Inside their territory, however, it’s a complete switch. They’re known to be incredibly defensive over their home and the people they perceive as part of their clan and will attack any outsides that come too close. Typically, this comes in the form of fake swipes and dive bombing. If the intruder doesn’t leave after these warning shots, Ignies will get more aggressive and physical in their attacks.
While these are the traits often seen in Ignies, there are always outliers who don’t follow the norm! Not every Igni is the same, though they may share small similarities.
Fire Breath:
Fire attack is red, orange and/or yellow. Ignies can produce a small flamethrower attack with an intensity capable of heating metal to the point it can be bent with ease.
Unique Ability:
Ignies have the unique ability to create magical sparks by rubbing/striking their wing blades together. These sparks can travel for a short distance and are known to be warm to touch. The interesting interaction is how these sparks enhance an Igni’s fire breath. Should a Igni scatter the sparks, they can ignite it with their flame to create a small explosion as the sparks burst from the intense heat. Ignies commonly use this unique ability to mark the borders of their territory, hunting and fights.
Most interestingly, the sound of an Igni’s blades striking differ from one individual to another. No sound from them is quite the same. Researchers discovered Ignies use this to speak with other Ignies from nearby territories to establish borders as the sound of their blade strikes can carry a long distance. The sound has been described as the harsh sound of metal scraping against metal that echoes in the air for a couple moments after the blade strike.
Another use Ignies have for their wing blades is to create songs. The sound of their songs is different from the sound they produce when establishing territory. Rather than a harsh metallic ringing, people have reported Igni songs to sound like whistling. Ignies with more wing blades can produce detailed songs, while Ignies with fewer blades have a harder time creating more frequencies.
Because of how many wing blades an Igni has can impact their song, researchers have noticed an interesting separation between the types. Those with fewer wing blades appear to be capable of more complex songs than those with more. Researchers have deduced this is due to the lack of wing blades forcing the Igni to experiment with songs more often than those with multiple wing blades. These Igni are thus called ‘poets’ for how complicated their songs can be despite having fewer blades to work with.
Igni appear to use these songs to attract a mate, bond with family members and sing to their offspring. The poet of a family often holds the task of teaching their children songs so they may have a better chance at impressing a mate or bonding with family.
One other unique ability Igni types have are the vents presented on their body. Because Ignies live in the desert and the heat of their own flames that can quickly overheat an Igni’s body, this type has developed vents across their body to cool them off. Excess heat is pushed out from these vents, allowing the bitty to quickly cool off. Due to how important this is to allow the Igni to regulate their body heat, these vents must never be covered, else the Igni risks overheating.
Clan:
Ignies can be solitary, but prefer groups of 2-5 members. Clans of these Ignies are called a Blaze.
Info:
As desert dwelling Draconi, wild Ignies create dens inside cacti to used get out of direct sunlight. The cactus also provides additional defense against predators and invaders of their territory, should the Igni need to take cover or rest.
While Ignies are omnivores, they prefer consuming meat. In the wild, Ignies primarily hunt rabbits, rattlesnakes, scorpions and lizards. Fur collected during hunts are skinned and used for their dens during the cold nights of the desert.
Ignies are extremely defensive over their young and keep the eggs inside their cactus den hidden within a clay nest. While an Igni has offspring, researchers have noticed they become increasingly defensive and may watch over their territory more frequently to deter potential intruders. The only individuals that can get close to an Igni’s eggs are their Blaze. Once the eggs hatch, the new hatchlings will remain in the nest until they’re old enough to walk. During this time, the parents take turns watching the children. While one parent hunts or watches the territory, the other will teach the children how to create songs with their wing blades and what foods are edible. When the children are old enough to walk, the parents will slowly introduce them to the world outside the den. Despite the harshness of the desert, Ignies are good parents capable of both defending and teaching their offspring how to survive, and instilling in their hatchlings the pride and leadership their Draconi type is known for.
Hoard:
Cacti. In the wild, Ignies would collect cacti and attach them to their home cactus. The more impressive the cactus, the higher their status is to other Ignies. While Ignies living indoors don't require a cactus to make a den in, they still hoard cacti and need at least a small garden of them to care for.
Recommended Tasks/Jobs:
Ignies prefer jobs that make use of their powerful breath attack! Cooking and working in forges are their preferred tasks. While they normally won't ask payment from their close companions, in the work environment they either require a payment of cacti, money or food.
Height:
Average: 1'2 ft - 1'6 ft
Smallest: 1 ft
Tallest: 1'10 ft
Wing length: 1'4 ft - 2'5 ft
Body elements:
- Draconi do not need to look like a Sans/Papyrus/Gaster bitty! Their scales can stretch up as far as you want, you can even make the bitty a humanoid dragon instead of a skeleton if you want!
- Horns can be segmented or smooth, so long as the end of the horn itself is pointed upward!
- Draconi have at least two vents on their tail and vents anywhere else on their body besides the wing membranes.
- Tail blade takes the shape of a sharp object, such as swords and arrows.
- Wing blades that attach to the first finger.
Markings:
- Stripes are a darker color than the base scales or black.
- (Optional) Ignies can have an underbelly color that stretches to their tail. Can be any color found on Ignies.
Colors:
- Igni scales are red or orange. The secondary colors can be red, orange, yellow and/or black. Bones are either white or color of the scales. Their hands and feet are always black.
- Back of the wings are the same color as the scales.
- Wing membranes always come in a gradient of 2-5 colors. The gradients usually mimic fire. Yellow to orange 'dots' are sometimes seen that mimic sparks and may glow.
