8 On The Mission

A Few days later an old man from Valedale Lake reached out to the Jorvik Rangers. He had found an injured fox that seemed to be trampled by a horse, since it was found from the race track. Myra was sent to pick it up, so she put on her Ranger uniform and started up the ATV.
.
It didn't take long before the poor fox was in her caring hands. It was propably drawn to the race track due to some tasty berries growing near it, since its face was covered in their juices. The fox's condition was quite stable, despite being unable to put weight on their paws. It was too busy trying to distract itself by gobling the berries like a greedy hamster.
.
Very disheartening to think that the person who ran over the fox just left them to die, but at least this kind man cared enough. Hope in humanity restored!
.
Or it would've been if there wasn't a certain nuisance tagging along with Myra.
.
"Can I take a few photos of you with the critter? Perhaps even a short interview? I know you want to!", the young journalist tried to persuade Myra while she was putting the fox in a carrier.
.
"Urgh, like I've said a million times before, the answer is still a big NO!", Myra grunted. This guy had been tormenting her all day. Some people just didn't know when to quit!
.
"C'mon, m'am! I'm sure Jorvik Rangers would benefit from some news coverage of their veterinary services. People can't stand seeing cute animals hurt, so I guarantee it'd sell - I mean, bring some exposure for you!", the lad tried to convince her relentlessly and already took aim with his professional camera to find the perfect angle.

"Haah... If you really want an interview, please contact the Ranger Station and arrange a meeting with someone who's less busy than I am!", Myra sighed and rolled her eyes while she put the carrier carefully on her ATV. "And stop following me. I'm on a mission!", she added and sharply glared at him as a warning that made the guy shiver. The injured fox was her number one priority and it was a non-negotiable fact.

"Uhh... Y-yes, m'am", the journalist gulped and lowered his camera in defeat.
.
Myra thanked the old man and bid her farewell before she was on her way back to Mistfall with the fox.
.
'Darn it! I really need a scoop or my boss is gonna kick me out!', the boy agonized while biting his nails. He hadn't turned in anything good for the past few months so he was getting desperate to find just about anything that'd let him keep his job.
.
In his desperation he decided to follow Myra anyway. He put on his trusty helmet and hopped on his bike. 'I might not be allowed to follow her, but she can't stop me from going to the same direction!', the lad grinned in his thoughts and pedaled like crazy after her.
