This is one weird crossover. Considering I've read all the JTHM comics and played most of the Sam and Max games. I hope Sam and Max escape before they become a collection on Johnny's wall. Especially Max he'll end up as the next floating dead bunny head. Then he'll drive Johnny crazy.

That's quite true. I recall a few anime crossovers on DA with Sam and Max.Β

I might consider that it will be a bit difficult I tried drawing Max once and he never looked exact. Similar but not the exact same. I hate that about fanart. It never comes out exactly like the character just similarly.Β

Yeah. You can always try to replicate but it never comes out the same. Drawing OCs is an even bigger nightmare because they always are a little different or totally completely insanely different from how you picture them. At least with fanart you have a reference pic to start from but with a character in your head there isn't some easy way to go about drawing it you just have to do your best to try to get it as close to the character as possible.Β

Yeah, I can see this happening.
Most likely before Sam works out some creatively elaborate method of escaping whilst Johnny's back is turned, somehow without using his gun (It'd hardly be sporting), shortly before Max lays the beatdown.
Because that's what the Freelance Police do.
Could be worse for Johnny though - Could've been a crossover with Flint Paper...

I loved the story and I actually rooted more for Sam and Max than JTHM because well one I like purcell's comics more than vasquez's. The reason why I like Sam and Max better is because I understand them more and Purcell's humor is more thought out and explained well than JTHM. Don't get me wrong I love vasquez's work and invader zim. And Sam and Max's personalities are more lovable as well.
woah long comment

Best fanfic I've ever read! Well I mean there's some Samurai Pizza Cats fics back in 97 that were good to but I'm biased cause I just like that you made both series (Freelance Police and Johnny) look strong. I felt this was more of two different styles of writing coming together to do something EPIC. Too bad Sam and Max never had to encounter Zim.
Much praise for this Mr.Garner, I know want to think what would happen if the Freelance Police had to encounter Inyuasha.lol

EXCELSIOR!
I had a great time reading that fun little thrill ride. The cross-over was quite seamless but I do feel that Sam and Max had an edge, plot-wise. (Of course)
The contrast between Max and Johnny is uncanny spare a few details.
Max is just about as crazy as Nny! At least with Max there's a sense of justice to guide that aggression in the right way!
Now I'm off to meditate.
-Oh and the picture makes sense now

I came back to comment on how much I love this. Look forward to some Sam and Max fan art and fan comics I've drawn and am writing the script for another artist to draw into her furry crossover film-noir genre comic AGENCY.

I LOVE both Comics but I rather Sam & Max because Sam & Max is my inspiration to comic writting than any other cartoon/game/comic I ever read. (even Lenore )
Is Jhonen Really that mean? No wonder Zim and Nny are so cold!

I'm the same way. You've got to love Sam & Max's nonchalant attitudes toward the supernatural as well as their psychotic vengeance toward evildoers. I've recently shown the series to several of the police officers that my wife works with and they've all said that they wish they were allowed to act like Sam & Max because there are plenty of thugs who've deserved a good "creative thrashing."
And, yes, Jhonen Vasquez really is that mean. Several of his readers (myself included) have actually begun to suspect that he has some serious psychological (or possibly even spiritual) problems, judging from his infamous mood swings and the fact that he knows a LOT about the demonic for someone who claims to have no interest in the supernatural.

Johnny is an interesting story, but it could have been done better. I generally don't suggest it unless you're very mentally stable. Otherwise, it can warp your brain big time. In a bad way.

Holy crud! Actual S&M with S&M.
Nice touch with the speech bubbles. And Sam looks a little uncomfortable there...
The art isn't bad at all, I'm just conflicted on whether I really like the story or not.

I've noticed most Vasquez fans have trouble with this story, or are wholly offended by it. That gets funnier to me with every increasing day, really!

You didn't happen to write it, did you?
Oh, and I'm more of a Purcell fan than I am Vasquez...not that I'm offended by the story...I think it's pulled off really well.
There's just something, some small thing that's preventing me from wholly enjoying it. I don't know, I'll probably have to read it again. I liked it, really I did.
Now, I just sound confused.

Yes, I did write it! And I'm more a Purcell fan than Vasquez as well. Purcell's stories feel much more fleshed out (even if his are usually just short comedies), more intelligent, and far less bitter. Plus he's a much nicer person.

Ah, you've met him? Awesome. And I find it awesome that I've unwittingly stumbled upon the author of that story. (Not to patronize, but I think it is one of the better S&M fanfics out there).
I also feel bad because I'm already biased against Vasqueze's works just because I'm sick and tired of the squeeing fangirls who find it totally awesome just because of the melodrama in the storyline which I feel really wasn't whta JTHM wasn't about. Also, I was trying to be chill and NOT read it when all of my friends thought it was "teh sup3r c00l".
Also, I'm a Purcell fan....that might have something to do with it.

I'll agree. It is one of the better ones. I've noticed that many people have trouble writing for Sam & Max. Personally, I find it very easy, but I also think like them (Scary, really).
As for Vasquez, yes. His fans are annoying. And so is he. Very mean, hateful person. But enough about that. I actually think that JTHM/I Feel Sick was meant to be more of a dramatic cautionary tale than most people realize. The concept seems to be that you should never allow yourself to be controlled by your anger toward past injustices or you'll be just as bad or worse than the people who've hurt you. Unfortunately, it ends up feeling a little hypocritical given Jhonen's trademark bitterness.

Wow, I really like how deep a conversation this one picture could propagate. Not to get off track though, I'd pretty much have to agree with every point you made up there. While I, personally, don't have any experience meeting any of the two, Purcell seems a bit warmer of a person based off the way he treats the Telltale staff working on the S&M games.
I can definitely see where people have trouble writing for Sam and Max. I think they're almost along the same lines of writing for a Tarantino film...it's very much the creator's original style and to recreate their thought developments/patters is by no means an easy task. But, if one were to pull if off well, gives a highly rewarding experience. I can brag that I write very well (not just in my opinion, I've been told by others) for the O'Brien character archetype. You know O'Brien, right? The guy who tortured the poor protagonist in the classic novel by George Orwell, 1984?
Yeah, well, like you I'm not quite sure if that says an entirely positive thing about my thinking but it sure as hell helped when writing a synthesis essay on the guy for my Language/Composition course.
And when I said I didn't want to veer off course much, I meant that I totally wanted you to hear all about my English course assignments.
