I play Magic the Gathering and love custom playmats. I have started painting my own using white mats as a base and painting with acrylic paints. This is the first commissioned one I've painted. The original art is by John Jude Palencar.Related content

I really like custom playing mats too! But I find it hard to get a lot of information about them. I have read that the acrylic paint dries and then starts to crack because the mat is rolled up, is that true? Also, how much do you charge for a custom MtG playing mat?

I painted the first one around Christmas for my boyfriend. He treats it pretty rough, lol, and we have had no problems with cracking. I use a sealant on them, which probably helps with that.
