Cubone is clearly adorable, but it doesn't make sense because it would mean that every cubone will have it's mother killed. What are Marowak so horrible they need to be killed?
Also I'm sure their was an anime episode or some scene where a living Marowak and it's child a Cubone were seen together, and both had skulls on their heads.

I think it's meant to be an origin story rather than a fact about every single Cubone.
