After seeing a drawing of my friend Qeteshpony 's OC by the very talented artist tres-apples I wondered how far I could push Inkscape to produce something more realistic. It took quite a few tricks to get this thing right, although I'm not too proud if the iris itself; that one is really hard to do without drawing brushes. Anyway, I think the result is pretty okay'ish. I used my drawing tablet in quite a few places here to get more natural lines. Interested in how the vector is build up? Lucky you, I've uploaded the SVG as well! Just be careful, this does not render properly in any browser I tested or in local viewers, but it renders fine in Inkscape, no clue if Illustrator can handle it: sta.sh/02rzdqixuin

warum hast du für die Lederhaut ebenen mit Unschärfe benutzt anstelle eines einfachen Radialen Verlauf?

Simply because a radial gradient can't be asymmetric

aaa ja jetzt, ganz minimal ^^
habe testweise mal einen einfachen verlauf benutzt und bin optisch auf das selbe Ergebnis gekommen, deswegen frage ich.
hast du den Verlauf manuell erstellt oder hat ink eine eine Funktion?

I used the interpolate inkscape extension for that.

Thank you! Not sure if I'd use that kind of style in my own drawings though. Ignoring the fact that Inkscape gets really slow just with this one eye, the rest of the drawing would have to match the style as well.
