Description
I just wanted to get this down, so excuse the sloppiness. I will be working on a more polished map for the future c:
Front Lines Farm was established in the pre-revolutionary Virginia, snuggled against the Blue Ridge Mountains(part of the Appalachian Mountain system). Originally the farm mainly grew tobacco along with a smaller vegetable garden to feed the land owners and slaves on the land. While most of the original buildings have long been demolished, the farming tradition has been carried on for generations by the Byrd family.
The house and main barn date from the Civil War, undergoing careful maintenance and several renovations through out the years.
The most recent developments on the land are the renovation of the main barn and house, and the building of the new barn, pastures and guest houses.
Those purple lines are contour lines. The lightest green of the map is high land, the lowest land is dark green.
KEY
Driveway. Unpaved, made of dirt and wanders all around the property.
Hay field. The farm grows their own hay for their animals, to try to save money. There is a path through the field that is part of the cross country/trail system.
Main pastures. As there is a small population at the farm, there are currently only two main pastures. Both are easily halved with electric fencing, to provide extra space in a pinch.
Main House. White siding with a red roof make this civil war era home jump right out of the landscape. The most recent renovation left the house with three cozy bedrooms upstairs along with two bathrooms. The downstairs holds one half bath, a connected kitchen and dining room and a spacious living room at the front of the house. Timber currently stays in the Master bedroom while Ash occasionally spends nights in the smallest bedroom(He spends a concerning amount of time camping and sleeping in the barn.)
Main barn. While the shell of the barn has also been around since the 1860's, much like the main house the interior has been gutted several times. Currently, the barn holds ten 10x10 stalls and two 14x14 stalls. There is a small paddock on one side that half the stalls have access to. Connected to the back of the barn is an indoor painted red and white and is big enough for indoor shows.
Outdoor Ring.
Stud Pasture. A pasture set away from the others for any horse that does best on their own, whether a stallion, a feral or whatever comes through. Currently, this pastured is only used by Roz when Ash stays at the house, he likes to be as close as possible.
Cow Pasture. This is where the cows live. This is supposed to be a working farm after all....The Byrds keep a herd of cattle, they haven't been terribly important yet, but they do exist! There are actually also mules that work the farm and fowl who wander as they please. Hopefully the 'farm' will become more relevant in the future.
'Fancy Rings'. Used for shows, pictures, videos etc. A- Dressage(20x60) B- the big arena (170x280)
a + b Guest houses for guests or staff
The new barn. Currently empty, 30 10x10 stalls, 2 tack rooms, and a small turn out area/arena
Extra pastures
Virgin forest. There are maintained trails, hunting blinds, part of the cross country course and campsites in the forest, but it is still considered an un-developed wilderness area. The forest is home to deer, bears, coyotes, squirrel, rabbit, turkey and more. Enter at your own risk!
The closest hunting blind, Ash spends many night here with Roz.
Cross country course. More info coming
Maintained trails, they extend all the way to the mountains and connect to the Appalachian trail. Ride at your own risk! The closer to the mountains you go the less maintained the trails, there is also wildlife that may spook or injure a horse.
