Description The star system Galactus' spacecraft was in suddenly had two suns. The blue giant that's been there since the dawn of its creation. And the new bluish white sun the size and shape of a startled human female.

Wearing nothing more than a jumpsuit and roller skates the power cosmic allowed Dazzler to survive in the deadly cold vacuum of space. Though she had done this before, (the last time she had to deal with Galactus), it still took a little getting used to. After the initial shock of finding herself adrift in space Ali relaxed and understandably took in the incredible sights before her. The red nebula that practically filled the sky was spectacular with all the bright blue stars shining through it.

She sighed. She had to get to work. It WAS a race against time after all.

The cosmic awareness she now had told her black hole was ten light years away. Ten light years. She instinctively knew that the distance would give her the time she needed to build up enough speed to go through it. And through it to the wormhole that connected to the black hole on the other side. And then through that as well. Ali concentrated and instinctively went into the motions of skating. The wheels on her skates began to spin as if they were on a solid surface. (Actually an energy field that only Dazzler could see.) She accelerated to and beyond the speed of light. Moving faster and faster.

She had passed through several star systems lighting up the skies of numerous planets as she went. Some of them were inhabited and the natives got quite a shock when their night sky lit up brighter than daylight. Finally she was approaching the black hole. Just beyond its gravitational pull was a giant humanoid alien with a large bald head and sci-fi toga. There was a human sized humanoid robot with him. It had what looked like an old fashioned tape recorder built into its chest. If Ali didn't know better she'd think they were watching her.

She shot past them and entered the black hole. It was like diving into a swimming pool and then walking on the bottom. Her "warp-speed" momentum had been slowed by the tremendous g-force surrounding her. She went from bright as a sun to a very dim night light. But Ali kept on skating despite the now major effort. Finally she reached the wormhole and the walking through water sensation ended. The light consuming properties of the black hole were gone and she flared up like a sun once again. But blue instead of bluish white. Ali picked up the pace as she traveled through the transdimensional conduit to another universe.

Once again she was a night light skating through water. The effort was murder as she had burned up a lot of power the first time. She was getting weaker. Tired. But the Blaire stubborness kept her going. It seemed like an eternity but she finally saw the tiny lights of stars in the distance. She was reaching the end at last. Putting everything she had into it bolted out of the other black hole like a yellow streak. Once clear she coasted for several light years. Then she stopped and landed on a moon where she could rest up.

After she got her second wind she tapped into the sounds of creation, the noises of THIS universe, and began to recharge. Without the machines of Galactus the regeneration period would take a little longer. Ali hoped that the thief hadn't figured out how to open the tesseract box yet.

In less than an hour a moon circling a gas giant in the Tannis Major star system glowed bright as a blue white sun. The Dazzler was charged up and ready to go. The silver garbed skater returned to the void and streaked at FTL velocity toward her destination. Along the way she saw some interesting sights. Most notibly was the occasional alien dressed in a green and black costume wearing a glowing ring. He, she and it were travelling through space with nothing but a green glow surrounding them.

As she passed what had to be this universe's version of her solar system Ali saw something that had to be seen to be believed. A white dog, in a red cape, chasing a spacecraft. Barking at it like it was chasing a car. The ship was an ugly skull shaped thing with tentacles protruding from the bottom. The dog caught the spacecraft, by one of its tentacles, and shook it in its mouth like it was a dog toy. Then a man and a girl caught up with the pooch. He wore a blue costume with red trunks, boots and a red cape like the dog's. The girl wore a cheerleader version of the same outfit. Both had an "S" symbol on their chests. All three existed in space without any visible means of protection. Not even a glowing aura like herself or those aliens in the matching costumes. Oh I have GOT to check this place out when I'm done, Ali thought.

She continued on light year after light year. Parsec after parsec. Then the trail ran cold. Ali stopped and found herself floating in the middle of nowhere. The Ultimate Nullifier should be here but there was nothing. Just empty space. The nearest star tens of light years away. Ali floated, hand to chin, rubbing her lower lip, trying to figure it out. Maybe he was using a cloaking device. Like in Star Trek.

Suddenly.

"I am Metron!"

"AAAAHHH!!"

Commenting on the text.
I like how this installment makes the point that Alison has to travel a tremendous distance just to get to where she can even begin her mission( and spend a big amt. of energy and time getting there). Most stories (that is to say those I have read) simply move the protagonist immediately and directly to where the action will take place, usually via some "magic technology -eg. matter transmitters etc.I like also that the story informs us that the journey is hard work (moving through the Black hole) but she is equal to the task.
I did get a particular pleasure from reading the part of the story ,where moving at top speed she lit up the sky of the various planets she passed. I'll bet on those inhabited planets she passed, the event will become part of the myth and legend of those civilizations.Details like that really add to the depth and texture of the story for me and I appreciate you taking the time to work them in.
I also like in the beginning of the installment Ali took a moment to view those awesome and wonderful deep space sights ( the red nebula).
The" Big Headed Alien" and his companion who seemed to "watching"her was a wonderfully fun detail
And when she arrived at her "destination universe " I really got a kick out of her seeing "the occasional alien in black and green with the glowing green ring" and especially" the dog with a cape " and the "S emblazoned man and girl"
All these, are wonderful touches that really add to the story but what I liked most of all was that Alison in spite of the gravity of her mission and difficulty of her journey could still take a moment to be moved and awed by what she sees( and be the kind of person who could be moved and awed) and make the promise to her self to" check this place out" .
I really like a character who still has that "sense of wonder " and ability to be awed by the universe( and life) in spite of all she has done and seen.
This was a great installment.
I hope did not get too "daffy "with some of my observations.

No "daffy" at all. Come to think of it Galactus could have "beamed" her to the other universe like he beamed her from Earth. But I didn't want that. I liked the idea of her travelling through space and seeing certain things along the way. I'm gonna use the excuse that the wormhole connecting the two black holes was too winding for the transporter to work and thus Dazz had to get there on her own. And giving the nature of her powers it stood to reason she'd startle some inhabited planets along the way. (Wonder how many wars she might have started, or stopped, as a result.)

I forgot to mention that though this Dazzler is a vetern super heroine she's still pretty much a virgin to the cosmic stuff. She couldn't help but have a "gee whiz" attitude about caped dogs and so forth.

I must say I like the way you chose to construct this installment .Requiring Alison to arrive at her destination under her own power and all the things she saw along the way and her reaction to them made for a very engaging chapter and gave us a quiet look at the kind of person she is That was a good piece of story construction. And I like that she has a "sense of wonder"/"gee whiz attitude toward things like caped dogs(correct me if I am wrong but I suspect she always will).
As to effect she had on the planets she passed by, it it endlessly fun to speculate ,not only about wars stopped and started ,but civilizations inspired to look up ward and join together to go out into the stars and explore.
in any case Thank you for a very satisfying chapter.

This story is really something else, hon. I luv the reference with the DC characters (no Super names mentioned - lol) and I would have to say that from a Marvel resident's perspective these 'creatures' would appear a bit strange. Imagine that: the ability to travel in space without any shielding or aura or spaceship! lol. I have to marvel @ how your mind works & how it can shape into being a new existence like this. Talk about Sci Fi to the maximum limit! A red caped man & woman & even a dog in space all by themselves! Who in the world (Marvel) would have 'thunk' it?!! hugs!! Susan xox

I knew when I came up with this I wanted the "Silver Skater" to see things. The Watcher and the Recorder. The various Green Lanterns. And, most importantly, a caped dog.
