John started with the slam, two wires in his delicate fingers suddenly smashed together- electricity jolting and immediately being followed by a sound akin to an explosion. Zapping and screaming shot through the thick grey smoke billowing from the machine, a few more smaller explosions tailing eachother before the room fell into silence.
The young windy boy was completely eclipsed by the smoke, body convulsing with painful shocks and something far more startling.

Dave was the first to make his way through the smoke to the fallen boy, his first reaction a stifled wretch. The smell of burnt flesh was suffocating, on top of the fact taht-- John was grey!!
"Shit!" He said, dropping to his knees, unsure of what to do or where to start. John was unconcious, body twitching and jerking a bit with random jolts of electricty. It was only when his eyes shifted up to the boy's head did he realize what had happened.

He was obviously struggling just to stay concious, fists gripping his shirt os tightly that his newfound claws had since torn holes in the abused, rather burnt fabric.

Dave, with obvious help from Karkat, set John down on top of his covers, which the boy promptly buried his face in with a whimper. He was trying to fight off the blurring pain, managing to speak, "i-is.. everyone e-else okay..??" John inquired, a certain sense of urgency in his voice.
He couldn't really recall what had happened, the moments before the whatever having been blasted from his mind just as clearly as the accident itself. Did he do something wrong? Did he get somebody else hurt? Oh, he really hoped not! Rose had been standing closeby, after all!

Rose found an empty room, and the lights were flickering, but it seemed to hold some sort of medical supplies. glass was everywhere, so she stepped lightly around the biggest shards. she snatched a bit of band-aids, knowing they would also need to adress the smaller wounds, when she heard something rustle. Kanaya stilled beside her, and Rose followed suit. What was that? something moved close to her foot, and Rose jumped. Something brushed her shoulder, and Rose whipped out her wepons. "Alright! Who's there?"

He cleared his throat, carefully trying to unfurl- though the sudden stress on his clenched muscles caused a tearing pain to shoot through his already bruised abdomen and forcing him into a tighter ball than before with a sharp gasp.
Dave sighed, rubbing his forehead. He wasn't sure what to do; it was usually John caring for somebody else's little injuries- cuts and bruises he'd lovingly bandage and kiss, no matter who's they were.
Now here he was, laying in a fetal position, body wracked with obviously excrutiating pain, and there was absolutely nothing he could do to return the favor. So, instead of attempting the impossible, he'd allowed Vantas to taket he weel on this one.

He looked at John, lying there, shivering and whining like a dog who's lost its way or something- because that's how horribly high-pitched he was.Karkat ran a finger through his dark and unkept hair, thinking about how he would tell John, when it occored that John would have to have the nightmares all trolls did. Now, by now, most of them were used to it. or atleast, it didn't drive them to the brink of insanity anymore. John wasn't used to them.

John had his hands over his ears now after hearing Karkat's snarling, which, for some reason, souned really really loud. Had his ears gotten messed up in the explosion, then?? Maybe that's what everyone was freaking out about!

He wasn't even really sure when he started to "prefer" the troll above his human buddies, but it had happened and now it seemed irreversable.
The calming purr smoothed out the last of the panic from his expression. There was still pain, granted -even the jolt of a random muscle now and again- but it was bareable when he focused moreso on the noise.
