Description
Here's a link to a quick 8 minutes-step-by-step video from an animation i made a few days ago for a freelance project. It's very very fast, just an exercise to learn " Adobe premiere pro " again to make tutorials when i'll have time to do them.i slowed down severals times so that you can analyse mechanisms i use to put on movements.. Enjoy

This is beautiful. I have only one question, I hope you don't mind answering. Do you use any kind of scripted actions when you animate in Flash, or you animate them manually by creating the elements separately on many different layers? Because according to this video, it seems like you don't use actions, but the results are still amazing. I'm kinda new with flash, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible, and it seems your way of doing things in flash suits me well. Thanks in advance.

Bravo!

I know this is some-what of an old post, but I wanted to ask why you prefer the classic tween over the motion tween.
Just curious.

Sometimes, I feel like I spend too much time building a rig, and creating character assets, for future use. THough this moves pretty fast, it looks like you don't even name your seem to animate and build the rig more as you go along. Do you even name the symbols you use? Maybe I'll be better off I don't. I dunno....
Your stuff looks amazing. Do you think you could a make a tutorial that's less sped up in the future though?

This project has to be done fastly, so we have to make quick animations ( 9 minutes made for a month ) so, yeah i didn't name my folders neither my layers i usually look at the symbols on the scene, if i click on a piece of the character, i know it's the good layer. same thing for library , i name " kdjbdlkd " when i'm creating my graphics
or sometimes " d " and " dd " and also " ddd " ( it can take this to extremes )
it's a shame because my students learn the fact that in the cartoon industry we HAVE to name all layers. but i'm freelance, on my own. so fuck off :-D
for tutorials, i think i'll make some before the end of the year. what i need is just time ..pretty rare these days. But as soon as i'll make ones, be sure i'll put in there
i've already made one for the walk ( davedonut.deviantart.com/art/T… ) if you want some flash animations to see how this is organized, send me your mail in private message, i'll send you some

I guess it makes sense, that when working with yourself, you can name the symbols anyway you want. When I do storyboards for personal projects, they're really sketchy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0fSrx…
Even though I can't read French, that walking tutorial ist till pretty handy!

You know, I've always been a fan of doing as much as possible in frame-by-frame and avoid tweening like the plague because of how mechanical and stiff it usually comes out, but you somehow make it flow like milk poured from a bottle (what?). Anyway, guessing it roots in years and years upon many more years of practice, so huge respect to that.

DaveDonut In reply to Yooyfull [2013-08-27 05:44:21 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. to my mind, i especially understood that if you want to create a "milky " way to animate movements, i have to make desynchronisation : at the begining, all members of a character works together like a puppet, but then, once the basic movement is done, the pieces hooked up to the body like the arms or legs are moving in a soflty different way. so i'm moving forward ( juste one point , sometimes two ) to give them more liberty compared to what he's tied up.
my english is not very cool, hope it's clear to your mind when i'm explaining this..?
