Whoa, that is wickedly awesome! Very nicely done! What is it like to work for big production companies? and how long did it take you to master the art of FX makeup?

Thank ya. Sometimes fun and sometimes not so much. I've been doing this work since 1986.

I'm certainly glad you post here. You've worked on so many movie creatures that have impressed me over the years! I thought this movie was spot on to the game, and perhaps the best game to movie adaptation yet. This creature specifically was successful in that it really doesn't seem to pose a threat without any arms, or facial features, yet is terrifying to watch walk towards you, bubbling and pulsating... so awesome.

Thanks. I kind of insisted to Patrick Tatoupolas ( my boss at the time ) that I would be the lead artist on building all the creatures and he was more than happy to give me that. He knew that I was a huge fan of the game. The other guys and gals that worked on it were as well. I wanted to make sure that the fans of the game got what they wanted to see. The director shot the creatures so very well also. This was definitely a labor of love.

Grand job indeed. you succeeded immensely. I'm not sure if you worked on Pyramid Head as well, but I thought his screen presence was simply the most powerful I'd seen in years for a villain. Every scene with him was riveting!

Wonderful. I'd love to see those for sure!
btw, please tell me you'll be working with Del Toro again on this brewing 'Pacific Rim' project. It's sounding like something I'd LOVE. It would be nice to know you'd be designing some of the monsters for that.

I've pretty much worked w. him on several projects lately, but I can't say anything about that one yet. I did do a maquette for "At the Mountains of Madness" and "Haunted Mansion", but can't really talk about those either. "Mountains" getting shelved was a huge blow to all of us though, it wasn't just Gulliermo's dream project but all of ours. What he had planned for that would have made cinematic history, a big budget horror film unlike anything anyone has ever seen. Universal really lost out on something truly amazing.

Aww, that's quite disheartening. For you I'm sure, but now for me. I was looking forward to that. Hollywood is a mysterious beast tho, dead is never really dead, and anything can happen. Keep some hope alive somewhere.

Guilliermo is not about to give up on it, but for the time being he's got other things in the works. "Mountains" will resurface again someday.
In the meantime, I'm sure everyone will be thrilled to hear that Universal has decided to greenlight a reboot of that fantastic film version of "Doom". I guess they know a hit when it comes up behind them and drops a deuce. These are the geniuses behind killing "Mountains". All studio executives must DIE!!!!
I'm fine..... really.

LOL. Yeah, well... you try to make sense of things, but there's no point. You probably can't discuss this either, but I just read about a sequel to the Silent Hill movie. I do hope you're involved with creature designs, and if you are, you MUST include the freakishly bizarre and terrifying Two baby headed giant crow bodied monsters that were in part 4 of the game. OH MAN, they were hauntingly unsettling.

Oh yeah!! I do love those creatures, but I won't be involved w. the sequel. I believe the on set makeup crew from the first one is going to do it.

Whichever you prefer. The genitals are actually where the velcro and snaps are to get the performer in and out of the top portion of the suit.

Did you work on the movie or something? O.O
Amazingly great work!
I recall it being just CGI in the movie, but this... this could maybe have made it more real.
And darn it that's something I'd love to have for halloween.
Faved, as some other pieces of your work.

Yes, it's for the film and they did use it but they cgi enhanced it to make it look very thin.
