Description "Yes, FROM THE MOVIE"!!! latex suit pieces sculpted for the "Rinzler" character.
Worked with friend Steve Kotch on this suit sculpt.
Doing hard surface-very symmetrical sculpting on a not so symmetrical body form was quite a challenge.

I just sculpted the parts for the suit and we were given templates for the lights and how and where they were supposed to go into the suit. The lights were whole other dept.

Do you have any form of showing us the process of making this suit?
-A video
-pictures
- steps and materials
- selling files of how to make it. Or plan on making a production to sell a suit?

This is amazing work, absolutely incredible.

But the model's face makes him look so awkward. XD I am amazed and amused.

They CGed the actors face on top of this stuntman's face. That's a wig he's wearing.

No, no that suit is THE suit from the movie. Like, the actual one Rinzler wore. And I've heard they go for about 60 grand a pop.

Thank you for posting a pic of the ACTUAL suit, it is nice to see a real one in good light. In the movie, the majority of the time the dark lighting made it difficult to see all of the aspects properly, thanks again

Thanks. Nice to finally see someone that actually reads my caption. I can
t tell you how many times I've gotten "Looks just like the one from the movie", or "Are you selling this?"
Thanks again, but I can't take full credit..... there were so many artists involved in creating this and all the other suits for the film. It was one of the largest costume crews I've ever worked with.

BreakfastEndeavor In reply to DaveGrasso [2012-04-28 22:18:58 +0000 UTC]

You are welcome. Yes, I made sure to read the caption
And I can believe it was a large crew given the fantastic outcome of the costumes. I am sure you did a big part though. I have seen some of your other sculptures and I can not praise you enough

What materials did you use to make the armor and where did you get the fabric for the body suit? This looks fantastic! I'm hoping to do a Tron/Rinzler cosplay in the future and I'm trying to figure out what materials to use.

This is the suit for the film and I can't go into all that. Too many steps and departments to go through. Glad you like it.

ps did you do a side / back shot of the suit ? how was it . one piece or zip

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DaveGrasso In reply to jaganar [2012-03-09 03:30:42 +0000 UTC]

It was pants and top separate and there were zippers involved plus some snaps and velcro. I sculpted the front of the suit and my friend Steve Kotch did the back which is why I didn't show pics of the back.

I'm currently making a Bat suit [link] [link] [link]
that is inspired a little by
these Tron suits.

They are some of the coolest I
have seen in resent years.

Hope to see U post more of your fantastic work soon.

Oh, and how mobile are you in that suit? Do you overheat if you run?

DaveGrasso In reply to bromstrom [2011-10-22 15:10:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, but Neville Page designed him and I sculpted him. I'm not in the suit, but it was very mobile...... kinda like a wet suit. Performers do get hot in these types of suits.
