Damn...I wonder if the Khinzi completely lost their aggressive mentality after that?
And let me guess, the Cardassian Union helped repair the Polaris as their thanks for it? She doesn't even look warp capable here, so I wonder in trying to escape, they came close to blowing up their warp core or burning out a nacelle completely with so much battle damage.
In this picture here, the Polaris visibly shows not only her physical damage, but probably the mental scarring wrought on her crew from all this.

The Kzinti are dealt with for centuries - they are occupied by the Tzenkethi.
The Polaris indeed escaped to Cardassian territory and the Cardassians helped her and her crew - back then, the Cardassians were less agressive.
The Polaris spent about four months in Cardassian space and beyond, even making first contact with the Bajorans. They were followed by the Cardassians who saw other interests in Bajor. So, in a way, the Polaris is responsible for the Cardassian invasion of Bajor some twenty years later.

Ugh, and so the Polaris also had a hand unintentially in setting in motion all the problems the Cardassians wrought over the next century before finally culiminating in the Dominion War.

Indeed.
One of my general concepts behind the Polaris is solving those little mysteries in canon Trek. Why can't it be all due to a single little ship?

davemetlesits In reply to dantrekfan48 [2010-06-08 22:03:56 +0000 UTC]
It was built by the Polaris crew, hoping that it will be a weapon of fear, not something to be actually used. But it had to be deployed.

The crater thing is an orbital phot of the Sahara or some other real-world desert.

The ship was repaired over Cardassia Prime. Kzinhome... it took them about a century to recover, but under Tzenkethi occupation.
