Nice to see a fresh new design. Proving again that things don't need to be streamlined for space travel. I agree with the other commenters who said it looks like a mini space station. Nice job!

That is totally and utterly cool... except for the main dish. That could do with some redesigning. The rest is frickin awesome

Thank you
The Feds probably had some leftower Sovereign parts and decided to pimp them out

It looks like you added a keel. It's a ship... I guess it makes sense. Either way, you did an awesome job with it.

Hmmmm.
If the front edge is hardened and strengthen with the best metallic that the Federation can create, it would possibly become an excellent ram slicer cleaver of enemy starships...

Probably one of the most unique designs I've ever seen.

Now that's a really interesting design, since the hull is that deep, it must have a really tall warp core.

Imagine the thing in a drydock

It would probaly need a custom drydock, just because it's so tall

You might want to do some schematic views of this. You don't see many vertical ships in SCI-FI and this looks like it could be very interesting.

It's ugly *runs away* Seriously this is an AWESOME render - part of the beauty of space is in the fact that without the need for streamlining or aerodynamics you can build aesthetically and for function. This is a BEAUTIFUL design! Gorgeous mesh!

Very welcome Is that mesh from Foundation 3D? Gorgeous workmamship and detail - you can clearly see 10 Forward (assuming they call it the same on this class
)

Its quite interesting...A mix between a ship and a space station...Looks like a mobile space station...

davemetlesits In reply to Footografo [2009-02-19 20:11:30 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. It's smaller than a station, I think the sauver is the same size or similer to that of the Sovereign class.

The concept of a movable space station is actually quite interesting...
It would be a most valuable asset to the Federation as a science platform.
It could also serve as a temporary outpost for outworld colony defense or to establish colonies while protecting and surveying the target planets.

As far as I remember, it did a Warp leap in the pilot.
Also, the Orpheus station Warped a bit in Enterprise...

Corwin27 In reply to davemetlesits [2010-02-16 23:20:14 +0000 UTC]
The crew of DS9 in the pilot, created some kind of "mass reducing" field around the station. I'm not sure if that is one of the properties of a warp field or not. The crew then used the stations attitude thrusters to move the station to the wormhole. So, technically, I don't think they "warped" anywhere.
