Description
I re-modelled the saucer rim, based on the original mesh. I have to tell you, it was really ugly. Now it looks much better and also has those little insets even on the grey areas.Mesh by me

I love the feel of the bottom of the saucer with those indents, I feel that really makes the design and gives it a movie feel.

Nice ship!
But do think there's enough doors on her?

Well, let's see: there is the hangar dorr at the aft and two cargo doors on the bottom of the saucer. The left are landing legs.

10? 10 landing legs?

I'm counting all of those indented squares around the bottom of the saucer (which seem to be doors, airlocks, or landing legs), and I'm seeing a lot more than four.
Maybe I just need to get my prescription checked?

Look at the Enterprise:
[link]
Ten or ten thousand, all hatches are there on the Polaris and in place. At least two of them are personal hatches, remember, the one Spock used for his thruster jaunt into the heart of V'Ger.

Oh, so there are, I guess I just never noticed that there were that many.
In that case, the Enterprise has too many doors too!
Maybe they're cargo bays?

Improvement is always the aim, due to mortal man not being able to create anything perfect.

Well, there are still some good vamps out there (I was actually designing a slightly satirical Vampiric story, that followed the rules of Twilight, and made Miley Cirus a demon...

Nice Work...Your modelling has come a long way. I just know some of the basics of setup, and no building from scratch at all.

A day shall come when you realize you need to build something. There is this little thought at the back of your mind, urging you to build a ship, or anything. You sit in front of the computer, not eating, drinking and sleeping only when you realize it's 5:30 in the morning and you have spent all the night tweaking polygons. On that day, you become the Captain of your vessel. This is how it happened with my Polaris. It's not building some random ship, but something you really love.

I haven't reached my goals yet in rendering and animation...then maybe. But then again I started doing animation about 6 months before I thought I would too.

Umm, it's hard to explain. I play with the Near and Far Attenuation settings and placement. It's just luck and experimentation
