Love the sceen, one tiny tiny thing though. By the time the battle of Cardassia Prime, the Cardassian's had swtich sides and were with the Federation forces not fighting them. Perdantic I know. Love the Pic though

Is the Akira class ship in the lower right firing torpedoes out of it's deflector dish? I thought that was what the aft weapons pod was for. Otherwise I'm loving this pic, keep up the crazy work.

I like this.
To be honest I wish the actual fight looked a little more like this. I found the actual Battle of Cardassia Prime to be a little disappointing as it was aired.
Primarily it was recycled footage from Sacrifice of Angels, cut in with a few uninspired shots, featuring only one or two ships on screen at a time. After the spectacular battle sequences in the episodes leading up to this one, relying on stock footage was disappointing to say the least.
In this picture, we get a comforting hint of the awe-inspiring spectacle the should have aired.
Thanks.

Thank you very much!
They didn't even show the battle of Cardassia Prime. The SoA stock footage was a prior battle which led to Cardassia being besieged. We only saw Sisko and Martok in the ruined capital with Martok being ready to booze himself to oblivion

Yea, from the looks of things they spent all the effects budget of the Bajoran Fire Caves sequence in which Sisko and Dukat reenact the "If all this makes a god" sequence from Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Come to think of it, I was bothered by the end of that thread as well. Communing with the Prophets? That's how Sisko goes out?
Sorry, RDM, no one wanted Benjamin to become a god. We wanted him to become an admiral!
If the woman who as AOL for seven years gets six pips, then the military leader who saw the UFP through a galactic war should receive no less a promotion.

I somewhat think that Sisko will be retuning one day as an old, wise spirit.

In my opinion, since the Prophets have control over time and space, there's no reason why Sisko shouldn't reappear with year's worth profound wisdom, but only mere minutes in real time after his departure.
At the final show where Jake and Kira (Tag that, Jako! She left OdO back at the Dominion homeworld! ) are staring out a window looking at the worm hole, I totally expected Sisko to appear behind them wearing white robes or something.
Jake: "Dad, you're back!"
Sisko: "Of course Jako. Do you really think I'd miss the birth of your little brother?"
Jake: "Of course not, Dad, that would be lame irresponsible and stupid. I know I'd never have my characters cop-out like that."
Sisko: "My son, the writer."

It really is a great picture.
Just a couple notes on the Star Trek History that bug me.
There actually was never a battle in orbit of Cardassia. The Dominion surrendered before fighting broke out.
Second, the Cardassian Fleet defected from the Dominion before they reached Cardassia.
I know that this is just nitpicking. The picture itself is fantastic

Very nice! This is just a great dynicamic scene for a picture! I only think that the Dominion Warship should be a good size bigger, but hey, let's not nag!

the dynamic of this pic is very much better. but i have one more hint for you concerning the size of the big Jem'Hadar-battleship. you can already guess? aha! it's out of scale. actually it's 1500 meters long i found an interesting link about this item: [link]
this site is a true treasure trove for trekkies like us, so give it a try and take a close look at this site. it's really worth it.

The Dominion battleship IS of scale! I checked EAS before doing the pic, the "Fleet charts" section states it's 650 metres long.

650 meters is not wrong concerning the battlecruiser but the battleship is 1500 meters. take at look at [link] and you'll see what i mean.

No, they are about the same size as a Galaxy class.

Really? I thought they were bigger than that. Maybe I'm confusing their dreadnoughts and battleships together.

There was a bigger one, as seen in DS9: Valiant. If i remember correctly, they said that it is twice the size of a Galaxy class.

Yes, that one did appear in "Valiant" as well as the finale, "What We Leave Behind", where it was next to Cardassia backdrop and it looked, to me, bigger than a Galaxy-class actually. This also may be do to the SHEER MASS of the ship compared to the more elegant Galaxy-class.

You'd find the work boring, it's basically rendering, compositing in PS, it gets interesting in the last quarter of an hour when it starts to look the way you intended the stuff to be

Ha ha, I doubt it But, man...if I could make models like that... But I don't even know how to screw around with a simple primitive yet -_- I need a class or a good teacher, etc. The tutorials in 3DS Max haven't been especially useful, as yet.
