Some pretty good work with the V-Ger cloud, though still doesn't hold up to the original.

I don't care if it was even Pixar, no amount of 3D expertise could beat the beauty of the layered airbrush animation that was used on The Motion Picture. That traveling through the cloud segment still wow's me to this day.

Indeed, those were stunning effects.

Example of how Computer Animation is not necessarily "better" than traditional animation *evil glare at Disney corporation*

A very good recreation. I almost thought that you had just taken the clip from the movie and captured it.

Well, if I'd known it was that easy I would have said it sooner , but in honesty, you are very welcome.

was v'ger really that big?

davemetlesits In reply to kradio [2007-09-25 22:48:49 +0000 UTC]

Yup. The cloud was 2 Astronomical Units long (twice the length of the Sun-Earth distance). V'Ger itself was about a kilometre long...

ohh, I knew V'Ger wasn't super large, but I forgot about the size of the cloud

Yeah, the poos souls. Remember, they were the first ridgehead Klingons to officially die

And they died a glorious death in battle! It was, visually speaking, pretty cool.

Thank you. Yeah, it showed how powerful V'Ger was, destroying the three flagships of the main TOS enemy.
