Ahh yes, one of the underdog starship classes, the Oberth Class.

Very nice haha
By the way, it's "Grissom", not "Grissum". It's an homage to LtCol Virgil I "Gus" Grissom, an American astronaut killed in the Apollo I tragedy. He and fellow astronauts LtCol Edward H. White and LtCmdr Roger B. Chaffee when a fire was sparked in the mesh netting under the astronauts' couches. Their capsule had been pressurized to 17psi of pure oxygen, which caused the fire to rapidly grow out of control. Within 15 seconds, the spacecraft's hull had ruptured due to the buildup of pressure. All three astronauts died of asphyxiation after the fire burned holes in their oxygen hoses.

Thank you!
Sorry for the mistype, it was unintentional. Yeah, I know about Gus Grissom and his crew...

Sad day. Derailed the space program for over a year.

Yeah. Both sides (USA/CCCP) suffered great losses at many cases but both of them were able to start anew...

Yep, but the CCCP kept most of theirs secret lol especially the N1. That was such a poorly designed rocket...

I always loved Soviet aerospace technology (I am an Easterner lol) and I am completely in love with the Buran shuttle. Had the Soviet Union prevailed, they have had won the space race with that ship...

The Buran is okay...it's just a copy of our shuttle for the most part, minus any engines. Now the Energia...that's one heck of a nice launch system.

Do you know that there is an American/Russian project with the Enyergiya? If an asteroid would be on collision course with Earth, an Enyergiya would be luchned, with an American nuclear weapon as payload, and with American navigational systems, to blast it off course...

Well, at least we have some kind of plan for that eventuality

Very nice.
It's always made me wonder why Starfleet would have come up with this ship design.
So you want to get to the lower half of the ship, you have to go to the outer edge and then a tubolift down...

Thank you.
Yeah, it is a bit complicated to go anywhere on an Oberth

The Oberth class is a much underfeatured and underestimated class. Nice one, especially the whirls of light to show the passage of time. The bussard collectors and deflector shield are still too red/blue though. lol

Cool piece Dave. Are the TOS and TNG variants canon designs?

Thank you. They are non-canon

I love it! One of my favorite ship designs. I particularly like the design of the earliest model, Starwind, with its round nacells and no-nonsence construction. I think this might be destined to be my desktop for a while! Great job as always.
