This would make a beautifully creepy death mask.

Gorgeous textures and colour, which is something you don't usually see in digital stuff. It looks like a tribal mask, or a head that's been chipped away slightly. Interesting to look at anyway, and a great painting.

I think I've said this before, but some of your paintings really remind me of Magritte. I wondered if you'd been consciously influenced by him at all?

Thanks for you're kind words. I do like some of Magritte's paintings, but I wouldn't say he's been a conscious influence on my work as such. Still, it's nice to be compared to someone other than Salvador Dali - I'm sick of being told I'm Dali-esque.

This was done combining the two Alice and the Monkey Paintings?
I really like this recurring image~ It's very powerful.

DaveWhitlam In reply to Bamvi [2006-05-22 12:26:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It was the "Alice and the Monkey" painting mixed with a painting called "Ruby" thats in my scraps somewhere. I also added a bit of texture from a photo of a plaster wall. I think think this version is better than the other two.

I really like the original Ruby painting~ did you ever finish it?

DaveWhitlam In reply to Bamvi [2006-05-25 13:16:32 +0000 UTC]

Not yet, it's on my list of things to do, which includes finishing several other paintings. So much work, so little time.
