I've often heard it said that art is poetry without words. And as with poetry - often my own - I'll not even understand what I am writing - or writing 'about' - until it is complete. Often, years down the road, I can look back and say, "wow, I understood such and such way back then; albeit it only subconsciously at the time"...
Anyway... the way you've ended your description: "Of course all this is my own interpretation after the event - none of this occured to me while I was drawing it." Caused me to think of all of this; and to realize that the former of which I am speaking, is indeed, very true, when it comes to creativity in general.
Interesting words! - and of course, work! !

Really good work, the painterly texture and unique style are impressive. Odd and interesting.

I like it.
Well thought out, if not overly so - which I can identify with.
Very well done!

I must say that all of your work exudes a certain quality - both in the sense of great technique and a 'particular' feeling - although possibly a bit forboding for my own taste. I like this one the most partly because it is an excellent picture on all levels, but also because of your comments - they provide an interesting insight into the ideas of the artist, even if they were only going on subconsciously at the time of creation. Your interpretation of your own work gives it a pleasing extra dimension.
Congratulations on a great start here on dA. and keep up the good work!

An awesome combination of references, quite boggling...never expected to see scatological , religious & Blakean references tied together so neatly!Very thought- provoking indeed!

Woa! That's one nice piece of art! Is he wondering about the meaning of life (while taking a dumb), and checking out the tree which had Jesus hanging on moment ago.. now he has ascended?
