Description
Title speaks for itself. If you've seen the awesomeness that is DS9, you'll get it.Btw, brilliant re-use of Voyager as the Bellerophon.

Pretty, very pretty. And I like Latin so i know the saying - 'In times of war the law falls silent'

The theme fit very well with the episode. The Romulans finally allowed a fed ship to trawl their borders...tsk tsk...

Wouldn't be the first time. It was a fascinating episode and showed another darker side to the Federation, which I liked. I've never believed that the Federation could be so 'perfect'. The shadows are just as important as the light, and the Federation needs it's shadows like anyone.

Much agreed, the overly rosy Federation ideals would have never made it to light if certain people didn't do the dirty work.
That's why we got Section 31 out there.

In my Beaumont series I've been trying a Trek angle and how my character of Reina Beaumont feels about the Federation despite working in Starfleet, I wrote her views out in the three part story 'Trilena - There For You'.
She violated the Prime Directive to help a child and was court martialed and booted from the Fleet, then a year later the charges were dropped and she was givne her commission back.
During her court martial she voiced her feelings on the Prime Directive and how naive those who enforced the Directive were.
A basic non-swearing view of it would be "Oh please, I violated your precious law because my feelings as a mother kicked in when I saw a child suffering and you act like it's a bad thing. Open your eyes, the universe doesn't follow rules and guidelines, we can't go around governing what we can and can't do when anything can happen and always does.
Maybe you paper pushing desk jockey's should head out into space and really see what it's like out there instead of cowering behind your desk while telling the rest of us how to do our jobs"

Well written stuff. Goes to show how much idealistic and biased crap is being drilled through the fleet. At least she was actually doing the right thing. Often times certain rules and established status quos can twist and distort what is truly just. Prejudice is also a deciding factor.

Feel free to read the story, I don't write pre-mades, I can't, so I write my own characters and keep things at a more emotional context than an action based one.
In RB's home lanugage, the saying would be something like, and this is translated because her home lanugage is tricky to write - 'Life doesn't conform to you, you conform to life. Don't like it, tough'

I'll give it a shot when I get the time. I've been reading quite a lot recently. Still have to catch up on Dave's Polaris and Ivalice's grassroot fics.

I'm currently taking a breather from writing after the amount I wrote last week. Though at times I can feel another story wanting to be written.
I've mostly been re-readig some DS9 books.
