I used a hard shiny plastic that gave a more glass like look to the piece.

As with the other version, the Octane one is truly photorealistic. The Bryce version has a distinct CG element to it's appearance, but that is for several reasons. You could easily fool the masses with the one on the right being a photo. The hand slightly gives it away, but someone would really have to look at that hand closely, for more than a few seconds. The object, however, is indistinguishable from reality.

The benefit of rendering with natural lighting, Horo HDRI used - exported from Bryce - and some of the built in materials from Octane. These glossy woods seem to work very nicely and the reflection from HDRI make the specular convincing - far superior to LDR backdrops.

You are welcome. I like this shape too... but also the cube one. Hard to know which I like best.

It is impossible to tell wich shape is the best because they are all excellent, and it it is very difficult to create new thing with a software used by a lot of people since e very long time, you really made a great work. Many thanks for all your tutorials and for the inspiration.
Cheers, Nic

Another great render, and another tutorial for me to do! thank you for that.
I have been doing a few of your tutorials the last few days and I have said it before but they are most helpful and easy to follow.
Love the fact you use voice as many tutorials do not, and I think I detect a British accent?
Cheers and thank you for your time and effort it is most appreciated

Mablethorpe is quite a beautiful sea side town, reminds me a bit of Coney Island when I was a child.
Looks like a fun place to be
