I like how you've put the model right in the middle of the image... the red wall complements her skin tones well, and I like her pose. Nice lighting, too!

Thank you - I was a little bothered by the central positioning at first but it work out okay I think. The lighting is actually just natural light from a window to the left

putting the model in the middle kind of separates the background into light and dark... it's an interesting effect.
and window light is awesome and free!

The room I use as a studio has got a really big (about 1.5 x 2 metres) east facing window - so during the morning in good weather it floods the room with sunlight. All I do is drape a big sheet of muslin accross it to defuse the light, and its like having a giant softbox on one side of the studio

Well it depends on how you look at it - its not much use having a 'studio' space
if you dont have a model to shoot in it. Ive not taken any photographs in there since August.
(Been out of work since June. So no cash = no models)
From my perspective at the moment your photographer/model situation looks much more attractive

=o oh damn, that is true =\ Ever thought of using yourself as a model? (not everyone likes to do that though )

Well I have modelled nude a couple of times in
the past but that was about 20 years ago. I have
no problem with the nudity but that 20 years has
taken its toll and Im not sure the art nude world
really wants naked photos of me at 46
But most importantly I dont feel artistically drawn
to self image making.

I find realistic nude portraits much more honest than those shot with a model... Not everyone shares this view though.
Okay then!

By honest/realistic you mean self portraits rather than
a model?
This can be true when its done well - its a very different
type of discipline working on your own rather than with a
model. I think the secret of working with a model is to get
them to open up to what youre shooting and try and capture
a moment of honesty and realism - easier said than done

In a way, yeah, honesty in self-portraits... But not so much when one looks like a model or has the body of one... I find it a lot more honest and raw when one does Not have the body of a model, and does self-portraits anyway (In a tasteful/artistic way, of course)... There is more emotion to be captured there... some awkwardness, a lot of realism
you're right about working on one's own vs with a model.... It is pretty much why I don't really want to consider working with a model... am bad with people in person I admire and respect those who work with models (including you!)... it's not easy!
