Idea

The idea behind this maple leaf is... wel... that it is recursive! xD

A maple leaf consists of 5 outer "parts", of which each part could contain another maple leaf, of which each part could contain another maple leaf... (unfortunately, I didn't get that far, because drawing more steps would clutter the leaf and besides that, it would probably become much too hard to draw (for me)).

Process

Sketching the maple leaf as a whole

Sketching each of the 5 outer "parts" to contain another maple leaf

Going over all the edges with a fineliner

Using some very cheap watercolour paint for kids to colour it (which turned out to be not really as smooth as I expected)

And... that's it. I hope you like it a little bit
