Description WARNING! Do not download any of these computer viruses onto your computer. You could seriously mess up your computer, have all of your personal information and data compromised, or even get in trouble with the law if it spreads to other people.

Now for the first computer virus to affect the entire Internet at the time, which was 60,000 computers at the time. On November 2nd, 1988, Cornwell University student Robert Tappan Morris had a huge interest in computers and wanted to learn how to program. He just wanted to make a script to infect all computers and report back with a map of existing computers. But it went horribly wrong when he messed up on the ratio of how often it would spread, as in prevent the computers from defending themselves against the worm by giving them a 1 in 7 chance of getting infected. But the infection kept spreading so often that it didn't even matter, and even caused a DoS (Denial of Service) attack, in which a request is sent to a computer so many times it overloads and shuts down. It was so bad that 6,000 of the 60,000 computers infected were severely hit, even affecting military operations. Financial damage ranged from $100,000-$1,000,000 since businesses couldn't operate normally and the longer the delay, the more money they lose since they can't run their business. Robert felt guilty of what happened and called his friend to call the New York Times to tell them he knows the guy who caused the cyberattack and it was an accident. But the friend done goofed and said the initials of the creator RTM, and it didn't take long for the FBI to figure out who the initials stood for. Robert was caught and punished by getting fined, being put on probation, and had to do 400 hours of community service. For anyone saying he got off a little too easy, keep in mind that the Internet was still new and cyber laws like we have today didn't exist yet.

This Malware Embody is a play on words for worm, which are slightly different from computer viruses by replicating and spreading without the need of human activation. If he looks gross to you, well that's kind of the idea.
