Description Oh my God! I've been waiting SO LONG for this --->
My FIRST EVER fan art of Disney upcoming 2D masterpiece: "The Princess and the Frog"!!!

Whhhooooo hhhhoooowww!!!
It seems like I can't talk about "The Princess and the Frog" without getting a little bit emotional, (is that a tear drop in my eye right now while I'm writing these lines?! My god I'm such a fag! )

It's been a long 4.5 years or so since Disney released a hand drawn animated movie theatres (with you put a side Bambi 2). The last one was "Home on the Range" that didn't do that well in the boxoffice and with the fans, even though I have to say it had some amazing art! Once I've heard about this move that Disney was about to take into 3D animated movies I was overly depressed for some time, I felt like walking zombie walking around life with nothing to look up for and a big hole in my heart. The classic 2D hand drawn Disney movies are an enormous part of my life. I have no idea where would I have been with out them really. Bambi, Snow White, Peter Pan and Lilo, Pocahontas, Koda, Aourora and Taran, Pinocchio Lday, Pongo and Aladdin and so many more of these brilliant characters have shaped me into the person I am today.

They are the reason I draw! The reason I make a wish upon a star every now and then, the reason I have faith and trust in pixie dust, the wired reason why I whistle while I'm working, and most of all the reason why I don't think that the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like me!

After "Home on the Range" was released on DVD/VHS with no trailer for the next Disney classic I knew there will be some gap in my heart for who knows how long? Will they ever release another 2D classic? or is it really the end? Well, being the Disney fan that I am I knew loosing hope is never an option for me - and a new Disney classic will make it's way to theatres soon enough even if I had to march on to the Disney Studio and start a hunger strike!

One can only imagine my feelings when I've heard of (the then titled) "The Frog Prince" project Disney has in store for us. I guess every Disney fan felt that special type on heart beat you get when you hear of a new movie! Cause to me anyway, it is more then a film - it's a whole set of characters, songs, and tears of joy that from now will be a part of my life FOREVER!

I can not wait any longer for "The Princess and the Frog" to be released. I have already fallen in love with the character of Tiana - Disney's first African American Heroine! It is about time! And knowing Ron Clements and John Musker are in charge of this project let's me know that this will be a TRUE heart warming classic. You can't go wrong with these two.

This weekend I took the time to bring some 'frog' magic to my Disney fan art... It was raining here all day long, a thing that always gives me extra inspiration...

I'm sorry I babbled so much this time around, I just had to express myself in words too!

I really hope you'll like this drawing - and remember by saying this is the first "Princess/Frog' fan art I've done, meaning there will be a lot more.

And I REALLY HOPE YOU ALL GO AND SEE THE MOVIE when it'll be released this December and enjoy every minute of it - I'm sure I will!

Thank you for all who read this long 'artist comment'

Have a Wonderful, Magical Day Everyone!
BIG for you all!
- David...

the movie seems very racsist, but i'll watch it because i trully miss the old art that they did. of course, nothing will be like the clasics, but as long as it's got some OUMPH in it, i'll be fine watching it.

man.....im glad im not the only one that miss 2D animation. dont get me wrong, i love 3D--toy story, shrek, pixar films but it was 2D stuff that got me interested in art. not only that but leraning to draw was the only thing that kept me from feelling lonely. it was Walt Disny films and loony toons that made me want to draw adn do animation and Osamu Tezuka and Hayo Miyazaki that made me want to do Mangas. I love Disney and can'ty wait to see Princess and the Frog!

It's about time 2D made a come back. Frankly I was begining to get diheartened when after a long while, not one studio was releasing 2D movie. Not to say 3d's bad, but it doesn't have that appeal to me. I'm glad Disney making a couple leaps in both the animated, and the cultural aspect of things.

This is SO beautiful! And I can totally relate to you, I was SO excited when I heard there was going to be a new Disney princess and the movie was going to be in 2D again!! This Pixar stuff is pretty good sometimes, but its never going to match up to the original 2D movies for me!!

So...is it really in 2D, or did they change it to 3D? I'm a little confused...you know, I'd be so excited for another 2D Disney movie....they are such great films...that last new one I remember was hercules, I think that was the only one I actually saw in a theater...

I know this is slightly off topic, but have you ever drawn anything related to "The Lion King?" that was my personal magic Disney movie....I watched nonstop when i was four, and have since fallen in love with everything to do with it, especially the music.

I like the dress you designed better than her real one. The one they gave her looks too much like Cinderella's.

Absolutely GORGEOUS! The colours you used work so well together - it's like she blends in, while, at the same time, really stands out. I love how innocent and cheeky her pose is, the whole things just looks to perfect! It's getting me sooo excited for the movie.
Favourite favourite favourite.

This is simply amazing! I can't wait to see this film too! I love 2d Disney and am glad that they're going back to basics! I know that you'll probably be too busy to reply to this, but I just want to say what a fantastic artist you are! You are so versatile whilst having you own uniqueness that you incorporate into each of your pieces! It just a pleasure to watch your art.

But mini rant aside, I love this piece. I too have fallen head over heels in love with Princess Tiana and everything about her and you have certainly done her justice!

Bravo!

I always loved hand drawn Disney movies because of the style of the art.
And that they usually had better story lines. xD

I love Disney and I'm totally going to see this film when it comes out. I didn't even know it existed until I looked through your gallery (which is fabulous, by the way. But you already know that).

And now I wish I could draw Disney stuff. >_>

Beautiful art work! looks wonderful, as does this movie! I too, was extremely excited to hear about a 2D movie coming from Disney. I like the CGI ones, sure, but its true...the magic is totally stripped away with CGI. Hand animation is the best-it always has been, and it always will be.

This art is beautiful, it makes the wait for December seem even longer from now! until then, we can enjoy more art from you i hope though!

Here's to December, and many more 2D Films to come!

Hopefully this movie will do what The Little Mermaid did for them back in 1989 and convince them to continue with 2D classics!
And that picture is really beautiful. I love the dress (did you design it yourself?) and the expression on her face. I think Disney would have failed to do better!

I'm very excited that it's coming out, but I feel like it might be really weak. Hopefully I will be wrong, but I truly feel it will be weak. The character of the princess from what I've seen doesn't really pop out at me. The trailer was interesting, but like I said weak. I love disney and I'm super thrilled, cuz i prefer 2-d to 3-d any day, but eh. We'll see.

In this drawing Tiana looks STUNNING. Her dark skin in contrast to the magical green dress makes for a wonderful visual image.

I cannot wait for this movie!! It looks beyond amazing! I missed 2D animation. Though in all honesty I felt Meet the Robinsons was pretty awesome story wise.. Though while it had a great story, I couldn't help but wonder how much better they would of been if they were animated in 2D. With that said, I hope they begin to slowly draw back into the 2D films.

With all that said I'd like to say that I love your picture, it is beyond beautiful

eh im not to thrilled about the movie im sure it will be ok but i think it should have been more cultured then what is is. New Orlans dont get me wrong has alot of culture but its not really that one culture its a mix of every thing. If any thing i think it should have taken place in some place more exotic like Aladdin and Mulan did it went more with the roots of the character and ethnicity. im sure they though well lion king already took place in africa...so why no change it up to the islands, or or some place more african. The Orginal concept was she would be a chamber maid and such and her name was to me madi but for some reason people that that was racy. dumb if you ask me cuz jazmin was racy for not being covered and mulan people thought she looked to american. But its what ever im glad lil black girls will have something i guess to idintafy with....I am looking forward to Repunzal though.
