Description The mythical beast does exist! The TOG II is my favorite tank in World of Tanks. This prototype super-heavy tank was built in 1941 by the same people who worked on Little Willie in World War I. (TOG means 'The Old Gang') It was designed to be the ultimate WWI trench-defeating breakthrough tank. This was the only prototype. To give an idea on it's full size- it's the same size as Germany's more famous Maus super-heavy tank and weighs more than a modern M1 Abrams main battle tank by more than 10 tons.

Sorry for the quality, I didn't yet have a decent flash (the onboard flash isn't worth using) so I cranked the ISO up too high. This magnificent tank is squirreled away in a dark corner of the Tank Museum making it hard to shoot and to appreciate it's sheer size.

Possibly, a lot of people took pictures of it or with it that day.

I have been there and seen it, stands almost in the corner in the museum, but yes its huge but can see why it is obsolete and horrible tank

Goodness! Huge!
It actually looks quite modern for such an old tank.

All that weight would collapse nearly any bridge that it came across.

it was designed to break through trenches like the kind the British faced during WW1, and the tanks they made during WW1 were basically "land ships"..... naval guns from actual ships were used on the "male" tanks and the "female" tanks the British made only ever used Machine guns.

Tog is da best. Would totally troll in war thunder. 122 mm shells would just go in one side and out the other doing no damage.

not really, the TOG II only has 114mm of frontal armor and its not well sloped....the sides are 76mm of flat armor and the rear section of the tank is mostly the engine so that would be the first thing to go plus the rear armor is only 50mm.

interesting. though it's speed and the blitzkrieg pretty much showed that the TOG is useless.

fun fact, by the time the time the prototype was finished it was already obsolete....but hey i cant blame the design staff who drew it up. the Special Vehicle Development Committee was mostly comprised of gentlemen who helped design the British tanks of WW1 so in their minds they were still stuck in the ways of trench warfare with no mans land in between.

I know the battle of france pretty much showed that the TOG would not work in that department.

but can you blame them? they were positive that things would stay the same....mind you Britain did make 6 breakthrough tanks near the end of the war the Tortoise heavy assault tank and that thing weighed 79t.
