This is true art, so much feeling expressed and shared. Thank you for sharing your talent. So sorry for your loss.

Thanks, Karen. It was an emotional painting to do and I remember tearing up with final strokes, like I had really done something.
It has been a few years and I have two wonderful daughters now.

This is wonderfully sad...I'm so glad to see work out there from a fathers perspective. Something that is usually left out, and forgotten. You are a great artist.
I lost my son in 2007, it's going to be four years since soon...this really moved me!

The loss of a baby is often something difficult to understand or describe, but you've captured it perfectly. It stirs up all the emotions I felt when I lost my brother. You have my deepest sympathies

This is great! I like the fact that you left out a few of the puzzle pieces on the baby..Since he still probably has a ton of pieces in life that still need to be placed.

The details in this - the way the piece is missing where the heart should be, the way there are pieces missing all over the dead baby, and the way the woman is turned facing the wall in the background - these are what make this a really amazing piece. I came here from Us and at first I preferred that piece, but then when I really studied this piece it came across how powerful it was. The expression on the guy's face, even though you've only drawn the eyes, is amazingly potent. I also like the way you've painted all the different wood textures. And the fact that you've been through this all yourself really brings it all home. This is really moving.
I also like the way the "series" is quite different from piece to piece - some obvious similarities, as well as common themes, but also a very different feeling and message to each piece so far. Are you planning to do more? I would love to see them.

First off: Thank you. I don't know that I've ever been moved by a comment. Perhaps it's just my own thoughts being repeated back to me; I don't know, but thank you. You've really taken the time to absorb my expression and word it into a descriptive that I've never been able to manage.
As for the series, I've removed the piece titled Discovery without really saying so. It was made digitally and I'm not terribly happy with the way it turned out. It doesn't have the look or feel of the acrylics and just seems like an odd-thumb to me. I plan on redoing it traditionally but not anytime soon. Yes, there will be more. Two isn't really a "series".
The next one (which I haven't begun) will go back to my childhood.
My life's an inevitable tragedy and I'll tell you now that I don't foresee any "happy" paintings in this series. Us is always confused for one, but I'll tell you- It's based on one of the worst decisions I've ever made in my life.
Thank you again for your interest.

I'm glad my comment meant so much to you. I just really liked the piece. Yeah, I saw Discovery in your gallery already but didn't like it quite as much as the other two - not that it's not good, but I can see why you called it "an odd-thumb".
I've watched you already and look forward to seeing more in the series. It's good to hear that you have something planned for the next one

Interesting piece! I thought of it first, as the child is missing several puzzle pieces, as it has so much to learn.. compeared to the adult who has learnt a lot, but not all... xD Did you have any thought with the puzzlepieces or..?

It helps to see the first one[link] in the series.
The child has been born incomplete; therefore stillborn. In other words, the painting symbolizes stillbirth from a father's perspective.
