Star Wars Galaxy 4 sketch card for Topps. Based off of the early concept designs by Ralph McQuarrie for Luke and Vader. Painted in acrylic, gouache, airbrush and prismacolor pencil.Related content

Wow, both were to have masks? Interesting. I really love how you can get so much detail in such a small space.

McQuarrie painted a shot of Luke and Vader in a scene that was to take place on the Blockade Runner at the beginning of the movie - after the Stormtroopers blasted through the door all the air was sucked out, so Luke had to wear a breathing mask.
I would have loved to have seen how it would have turned out if they actually went this direction.
