Oil on large canvas
I painted this from a tiny photo that an Indian Restaurant was using for its logo. I could find the original anywhere. This large painting measuring 150 x 150 cm now hangs pride of place in the British Raj restaurant. The original photo was slightly blurred, so to keep with the era and authenticity of the shot, I painted it with that same blurred effect, using Naples yellow and Raw umber as my two main colours. I personally love the small collie dog in the soldiers lap as I feel it shows the kindness in a harsh world of Victorian commonwealth. Hope you like?
